War in the West

Part 51: Turn 54 - 8th July 1944

Here they come again!

Stopford is a stupidly good name for someone defending in Holland.

My men have been told to dig in and keep the Germans distracted.

The response from their commanders was “Dead is distracting.”

Hitler continues to throw his best against me. This was not the plan, but its working!

So many dead for no ground gained.

Remember when these reports use to be mainly allied losses? Yeah, we need to add a few thousand to the German losses for the fog of war.

Northern Italy is now full of planes.

I need to drop manpower from the target list.

It's cleanup time.

Now it's time to strike north.

I want past that defensive line.

They look tough, but surrender easy.

This is going to be the hard part – getting over the mountains.

Or maybe not. I do make sure to trap these buggers tough!

With Venice not wanting to be cut off, I give up and move most of the troops in to support the attacks on the German line.

Still no resistance here!

There is a mountain Division in Grenoble, but they will be easily isolated and destroyed.

These guys are dug in well.

It's going to take a while to shift them.

So close! We got to within 50 meters of breaking them before our men were forced back!

The second wave takes it!

Move! Move! MOVE!

German losses continue at an unsustainable rate.

This is a good thing.
