My original plan for this Lore update was to talk a little about Goldshire and Moonbrook, but what more can you say about them? Instead I'm going to address a very serious problem with the game: The immense and intricate plot! Okay, more to the point, I'm going to talk about the storyline that's been retconned in at this point. Well, to the best of my abilities. It gets to be a little troublesome when there gets to be time-hopping.

Our story begins with good ol' warchief Blackhand. As the former chieftain of the Blackrock clan, he was a brutal warrior and a fairly clever tactician. It was however, it was his easily manipulated nature that caused Gul'dan to promote him as the new warchief. Unfortunately, the first assault on Stormwind went awry as the knights tore the unprepared orcs to shreds.

Gul'dan, of course, pushed the orcs to this war so that he could gain access to the Tomb of Sargeras, which could grant him untold power (or so he believed). Medivh held this knowledge above Gul'dan's head in order to get him to destroy the humans. "Why?" you ask, as though having never read these updates.

Because Sargeras, demon lord of the Burning Legion, had possessed the body of Medivh so that he could take vengeance on Azeroth for putting an end to his wars to take the Well of Eternity and it's limitless power. And the owners of this Well of Eternity? Night elves.

So let's make a manipulation/blame chart here...

Elven Magic.

But that's living in the past. The war's going on and we've got some serious happenings to talk about! Blackhand get's a young chieftain (Doomhammer) to lead the battles against the humans, and human towns begin to fall without the humans being able to do much else but hold them back, particularly after Sir Lothar is captured by a band of Turok's ogres. Don't remember Turok?

Yeah, that guy. You see, after Lothar was captured by the ogre, the humans came to rescue their leader, greatly diminishing the ogre forces, but not outright eliminating them. Coincidentally, Blackhand's daughter, Griselda, had fallen in love with the barbarous Turok. Wanting to be seen as a ruthless leader (or just being a tremendous dick), Blackhand sent his new chieftain to kill Turok, his ogres, and Griselda.

During this time, Garona, a spymaster for Gul'dan, was acting as an envoy for the power hungry warlock, sending messages to and from Karazhan and Medivh. In this time, she became acquainted with Khadgar, who served Medivh as an apprentice. The two of them worked to uncover Medivh's plot and his opening of the Dark Portal. When they heard this news they told King Wrynn, and slew the demon-possessed wizard with the help of the now-recovered Sir Lothar.

Unfortunately this was as Gul'dan was still probing Medivh's mind for the location of the Tomb of Sargeras. When the wizard died, Gul'dan fell into a deep coma, leaving Blackhand without the warlock's magical assistance. Doomhammer sees his chance to take the power back from the foolish Blackhand and kills him, earning him the title "Backstabber." Garona, meanwhile, still had duties to fulfill to the Shadow Council, and attempted to steal information from the human's Northshire Abbey. Despite her friendship with King Wrynn, she was still an enemy operative, and was captured and held in the depths of the Abbey.

Doomhammer knew the importance of a good spy, however, and rescued the assassin, and burnt the Abbey to the ground. Before he could grill her for the information he was really after, she made off to execute a Shadow Council order. Doomhammer now continues his assault on the humans' country, but has not forgotten that there is a deeper story that he has been left in the dark about.

This is the point where lore and timelines get all sorts of wacky. For the purposes of the LP, Garona has sent Doomhammer on a wild goose chase, seing as they both have a lot of work to do before their actual "interaction."

Also, this Lore update has been quite devoid of new drawings. So I figure I'll toss a little something up.
