Part 50: There's a hole in the bottom of the sea

Chapter 47: There's a hole in the bottom of the sea

Part of the minigrindfest was because some characters were close to mastering some key classes after Gogo's ABP dump.

Now Krile and Burtz both have !Rapidfire and Dual Wield. They both spend time in Mystic Knight for !Spellblade. Oh gee, I wonder where I am going with this!

The Great Sea Trench is full of zombies and damage floors. A Geomancer with !Sing would deal with both but that's boring.

It's also in the middle of fucking nowhere. There isn't a landmass for screens in any direction of it.

So here's the fucking hole in the ocean floor.

Gargoyles.

Syldra makes these things so trivial. It's almost insulting.

Burtz gains the fabled Bard technique: Running like a fucking coward and being a nuisance. Actually, !Hide is essential to a bard SCC as it allows you to drain bosses' MP until they can't do shit.

Meteor's at the end of this. I gotta do my best!

I think it looks nice. The lava really makes it a unique cave. Too bad we have to slog through it.

Also, the random encounters are these ungodly things. There's like 4 different types of Unknown.

They're all undead, though, so Burtz goes to town.

Syldra also clears house. Syldra ALWAYS clears house.

Pressing this switch creates a bridge.

Pressing this switch gets rid of a bridge. I have to walk through lava now. OH NO THE FLOOR IS LAVA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Pressing this switch opens a pitfall. I don't know or even care anymore.

The hanging unknown can take hits like a motherfucker.

NO.

Now the lava is mandatory but at least I get bottled magic out of it.

What horrors could be on this floor?

If you aren't all named David I'll cry for some reason.

Why a dwarf knows this I'll never know.

It's not David but something lame like Rallybo?

This guy sells different things depending on which side you bug him from. They're all stuff from Mirage so I don't spend my valuable ring-gil on.

This is the hint for Mirage I guess.

If I went this long without Hermes Sandals, though, I think I'd go mad.

A change of scenery that lasts for 5 seconds!

This is an annoying trap. As in, I forget which of the 8 switches in this floor turns it off.

I think its this one since I took a picture of it.

KAISER NUCKS! They boost a Monk's damage output by a truckload!

Of course, a boss fight before the tablet.

BOSS FIGHT: TRITON, NEREID,PHOBOS

The only gimmick group bosses have in FF5 is that they revive each other. I think Enkidu and Gilgamesh are the only two to do something different, and they just mostly follow their own patterns regardless of the other. Triton, the red dude, absorbs fire and is weak to ice. Nereid, the blue one, absorbs Ice and is weak to fire. Phobos, the green guy, I think absorbs poison but is weak to lightning.

To avoid that bullshit, I just spam Syldra...

..Requiem (as they are all three undead)...

..And Syldra some more. At 13,333 HP each, they don't take too long to kill.

The only attack that can cause any issues is Delta Attack. As you can see, it petrified Lenna. I already entered the command for the Requiem that would kill them, so she misses delicious boss AP.

Meteor is the fucking awesomest. It essentially acts as 4 Comets in one casting. If you're lucky, a single Meteor can break 10K damage. It's also nonelemental and ignores magic defense and evasion. It falls to the same dummy target thing !Rapidfire does (which I'll explain when an enemy actually has dummy targets) but that's a nonissue as Flare works just as well against those guys.

Slap this fucker down, get some weapons.

At 81 power, it isn't bad, just that the Chicken Knife is so much better. It can work as a second weapon, but Sasuke's Katana and the Rising Sun do that better. \/\/

The Fire Lash is essential to one hilarious plan I have.

It boosts Holy's damage to about 6,000. Faris grasps this thing tightly whenever she's not got an Air Knife.

The point to the Red Mage needing 999 ABP to level 4? This fucking awesome skill. !Dualcast does exactly that: it lets a character cast 2 spells a turn. It normally only has !Red's spells (this includes Raise and Sleep, so it isn't that bad) but any magic command in the 2nd slot can also be dualcast. This means, with !Time, Dualcasting Hastega, Quick, And Meteor becomes a question of MP.
