Introduction
They say that Mario Party is where friendships go to die. Let's test that, shall we?
The Games
Mario Party is a highly ornate random number generator disguised as a video game. The joystick motions and button presses of up to 4 players are recorded by something that looks like a virtual board game for over an hour. At the end of each turn, the players are presented with distractions in the form of several luck and skill based mini-games in order to conceal the calculations of the generator. Once all the turns have elapsed, someone has more stars than everyone else, and they win. Or do they?
The Players
played by pokecapn: "Wario plays to win and so do I."
Strength: Has played every Mario Party game multiple times.
Weakness: Hubris.
played by Kung-Fu Jesus: "I've played a Mario Party game before. I think."
Weakness: Doesn't know what the hell he's doing. This is also his Strength.
played by medibot: "I'll do my best!"
Strength: The People's Hero.
Weakness: Is actually the best, and therefore the Enemy.
played by MyNameIsKaz: "..."
Strengths: Has obtained the God Thumb via contract with Satan.
Weakness: Didn't read the part of the contract that granted him anti-luck.
The Chase
We take a cue from Wario Ware and skip all mini-game explanations. It's called Wario Party. I made it. medibot named it. And now, we play it.
The Catch
Starting with Mario Party 3, there's a handicap feature that allows players to start the game with up to 9 stars already in their possession. This gave us an idea: One game of Mario Party spread across 8 physical titles to determine the Ultimate Party Star. The results of each game go into a single total for each player. These totals determine the handicaps we start with in the next game.
