Quantum of Solace is a first-person shooter (third-person shooter for PlayStation 2) video game based on the films Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360. The game was released on October 31, 2008 in Europe and November 4, 2008 in North America. The game's release coincided with the release of Quantum of Solace. The game was the first James Bond title published by Activision; the company acquired the video game licence to the James Bond franchise in 2006. The game was released on multiple platforms and, was developed by four different companies: Treyarch, Eurocom, Beenox, and Vicarious Visions. It is powered by the Call of Duty 4 game engine. This is also the first James Bond video game to be released on a seventh generation console as well as the first to feature Daniel Craig's voice and likeness, as well as those of Eva Green, Judi Dench, Mads Mikkelsen, Olga Kurylenko and Mathieu Amalric.
Quantum of Solace is one of the newest James Bond video games and the first movie based Bond game in 3 years. The last Bond game that was released at the same time as the movie it's based on was The World is Not Enough in 2000. This game covers both of the new Daniel Craig movies, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. As the game is built on the CoD4 engine, the game is very playable and is in fact quite good. While the levels are easily identifiable for a fan of the movies, they will seem disjointed and confusing for someone who has not seen them, especially due to the way the levels are framed. As such:
It is strongly recommended that you watch Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace
So which version are you playing? I will be playing the Xbox 360 verison, made by Treyarch. As with most modern games the difficulty scales damage and health but does not change gameplay. As such I will be playing on the 'medium' difficulty.
Are you going to show all the secrets? I will be grabbing all intel items, and using every secret/hidden/unique weapon in the game.
How much are you going to talk about the movies? I will talk about the movies as it comes up. I will not be going in depth to explain motivations or plot outside of the games boundaries. I am going to assume people have seen the movies.
What about multiplayer? Multiplayer is up in the air at the moment. It is more or less dead on Xbox Live, and it has no bots to create an interesting local game. If you have this game and would be interested in participating in a multiplayer match, let me know and I'll try and put something together if there's enough interest.
