Not in that length of time. I do like that idea as a puzzle solution, though. I remember at least one game that used that one.

It looks like the reason the game changed the batteries for us is that we're too foolish to manage it ourselves. I imagine the narrator patting us on the hand and saying "there, there". And maybe adjusting our special helmets.
