Their advance was raggedperhaps even a bit disorganized, but demi-precentor ODonnely remained proud of his command. It was hard to reign in their eagerness when the HPG was so close. With any luck, he wouldnt need to spur them to further action.
From the roof of the HPG, the smaller of the enemy Quad designs took flightjets of flames bursting from the back of a pair of boxy, wing-like struts jutting from the Mechs sides. They appeared to be SRM clustersand also to house the odd machines jump jetsthe roaring corona of superheated plasma resembling a pair of flaming wings that seemed totally out of place next sprouting from a relatively equine frame.
A more dangerous sight stepped from behind the HPG an instant later, a fifty-ton hunchback. Kelly frownedwhatever the Clans had done to the design couldnt be to their benefitthe barrels of not one, but two heavy autocannons jutted from the small machines shouldersat least theyd restrict the pilots field of vision. Whether that would be enough to handicap a machine with that much firepower, he couldnt guess.
