Part 14: World of Ruin Roundup 4

No real update today, but with the gang all here, I feel its a good idea to re-evaluate our party.

Chichi is as good as ever. Like everyone else, I'm prioritizing speed over magic power or MP to keep casting for long, but Sun Bath doesn't need MP and her magic power is enough to recover everyone to at least half health. She's also the first for my group to learn Ultima, but haven't rolled it out yet. Note, her magic power is about 8 points higher due to her equipment and speed 1 higher than in the picture.

Gendo is back, and still at a low enough level to mold into a shape. I think I'll deploy him in the same party as Chichi, Shanon (or Touka), and perhaps Winry. If not them, then others who won't be relying on the actual magic command to avoid the Ultima(te) faux pas.

Viral is probably my biggest disappointment, or at least the biggest disappointment that is going to be used in the final dungeon. One of the slowest characters, and while his magic stat isn't bad, he doesn't enjoy the wide range of magic boosting gear besides earrings. Ifrit hard coded into his second slot is situational at best, and it seems like many end game enemies absorb fire. I haven't checked to see if he can equip the Paladin Shield. If he can there is hope for him yet.

I haven't used Hato as much as before, since I can deploy multiple Tactical Nukes rather than one volatile R-Nuke. Definitely going to keep boosting his speed, since currently if he Crusades it seems that the damage is no longer a guaranteed party wipe.

Legato still leaves much to be desired. A slower, less magical Viral. Don't let the vaguely alright-ish Vigor stat fool you. Trying to dual wield Pearl or Aura Lances with Offering leaves much, much to be desired. His elemental skeins seem alright at least.

Jean is still a work in progress, a few more speed level bonuses and I'll turn to upgrading his magic. He may not be able to lay out significant damage, but he can lay buffs or roll out damage control very well.

I need to stop using R-Elem, Hiiro's stats are above average all around and the shallow attack pool makes him seem much worse than I think in the heat of battle. There's a few extra points from equipment here, but almost all of this is pure Hiiro.

We've already gushed enough about Shanon. Her base magic stat is enough with equipment to hit the cap reliably with Bum Rush. Every level will mean that I can give up a piece of magic boosting equipment to make her more durable.

We've already said enough about Zepeli too. He can go fly a kite or the falcon or whatever while the grown ups deal with the omnicidal clown.

Saber suffers from the same affliction as Viral or Legato. If it weren't for being spoiled on blitzers, she's probably be a good team member.

Even with the 20 points of magic power from equipment, 44 is nothing to sneeze at. Speed is still desired.

Winry is actually a surprise. That magic stat is still a horrible waste, and her vigor and speed are still lagging, but I've come across a solution, at least with the right team to deal with trash mobs.

Her swdtech is as much a liability as it ever was for Cyan. However! With a team like this queuing up enough big attacks like Meteor, Double Bum Rush and such gives her enough time to at least charge up Quadra Slice, if not enough time to Cleave (for example, in this shot Iggy still hasn't acted so there was time to spare for Quadra Slice).

Caesar is still a horrifying death machine. The Snow Muffler makes him almost unstoppable... at least for now. I'll address the Tusker in the room finally that we haven't really said in the videos. At some point someone is going to reach level 42 and unlock Spiraler, and that is the day where Caesar will no longer be an automated win button. Thankfully his berserker rage includes normal attacks, the ally chucking/bodyslamming attack, and Storm if I chose to Blizzard Orb him. So I think less than a 10% chance of suicide.

Touka is also a pleasant surprise. The speed is still a sore point that can't be solved with espers, but despite that they can blitz just fine. An alternate source of Sun Baths or X Magic is also welcome.

To put a little bit more in the update, this is some random stuff, missed things, quirky things, any things.

Coex Anz takes the place of the undead Sr. Behemoth as expected, and loves X-zoning everything. Oddly enough, he shows up twice on the Veldt.

I expected the Fanatics Tower Dragon to take the Veldt spot, but no, the White Dragon apparently is hard coded to be the one.

Shanon no longer has an Enhancer glued to her hand. I still need to see if the Ragnarok is wagered into an Illumina though.

This is the house Liquidy missed.

It has the only cursed shield in vanilla, it is my second. It was my second. The first became a second Paladin Shield. The readme says that equipping multiple shields breaks the curse faster, but only the first one broke, still waiting on the second one.

I wasn't recording when I got the shitty partisan, but what you do is stand to the right side of the Relic Ring chest and hit confirm, it'll open the door below. It wasn't noticeable with Liquidy's game, or maybe just cause he has more health, but L90's love casting meteor, which is a party wipe unless you have more than 3000HP. L80's cast Life 3 often, and it pierces reflect so that's nice. L90's also cast Stop, and are vulnerable to it when it bounces back in their face.

Also, many enemies drop tinctures, so that's nice.

I didn't mention in the video, but Magimaster is vulnerable to confuse and berserk. It breaks the first part of his gimmick, where he cycles elemental weaknesses. He snaps out of it for the death counter though.

His physical attacks aren't much, only doing about 350 per hit, but may as well just chump him harder.

These guys take the place of the magic pots, I think they can poison, but that's pretty much it.
