Part 16: World of Ruin Roundup 6
So with Tyty the Herald of the End Times with us, there's not much more for me to round up. Especially since the encounter rate and huge detours of the rando tower gives liquidy the chance to show much of it off. So this is mostly the (likely) last bit of gambling prizes. Its funny just how "weak" my party seems compared to Liquidy's. That's the magic of his glitch grown Red Dusters are the cause. +50% boosts to HP AND MP. The source for his early Quick, and other random broken ass passives.
First, wagering the Twilight of the Gods for the ability for anyone to equip Enhancers, Snow Mufflers, and Paladin Shields. Maybe later I'll come back and do it just to see what a merit award can be wagered for.
The lousy fragile gimmick sword can be wagered into the katana that was forged from the souls of Jean's family.
Now let's get to the interesting things. I showed these jerks off a few updates ago, being insanely fast and powerful.
The snow muffler completely negates their power, so all they can do is flail rapidly as it falls to its doom.
No thank you, I'll take my armor back.
You may remember this lady from Kefka's Tower in this update. Highlights include zombie missiles.
It too can be cast into the Void. I flirted with using Legato as an Imp equipped doom machine while grinding, but if I were to do that I'd be dual wielding Imp Halberds.
Curious to see what I can get out of betting the prize.
Lesson learned.
And again, let's see what we can get from doubling down.
Vendor trash.
Here's a good wager, and one I tried multiple times without success. Unless he's very nice, he'll Sneeze very early on. I eventually managed to do very well with him fighting as Caesar where he chose to constantly megazerk the already berserk bum rusher. Sadly he still sneezed me out.
I unfortunately never bothered to see who can equip this. It doesn't prevent all encounters, I think it at best halves them. I can also get one from wagering a Flame Shield and fighting a Vape Elemental of some design.
Again, while the Excalibur is a nice piece of kit, I want to see what's next.
I should really have brought Touka to these fights. While in these shots it seems like Jean is doing very well, he's still suffering from the AI choosing to steal, or dual cast Cure 3 after 200 points of damage, or other frippery.
I didn't take this wager for some reason, since the Snow muffler is a definite upgrade to the original Ice Shield.
Here's another intriguing fight. Remember that Gem Boxes can be readily obtained by fighting pugs in Zone Eater's urethra.
The N-Zone is getting pretty full by now.
The Thunder Shield is the best of the three elemental shields. Where Ice and Fire have weaknesses, This one doesn't, it nullifies Wind which is a nasty element, and halves Ice and Fire. But that's not what I want.
Since not everyone can dual wield Enhancers, some people are going to dual wield these.
Unfortunately this dick has sky high magic defense, I later come back and mop the floor with him as Caesar and get 3 more Magus Rods.
I was unable to kill this jerk either, but the pod bracelet is actually useful for once in this game! Azte will either instantly kill with Jet which is a death attack, or instantly kill by chucking a sword in the face.
I just remembered that there's only 2 people who can equip the Atma Weapon in this seed (3 if you include Wedge. Never Forget), so I guess we're back to the pod bracelet being useless... again.
Since I was farting around, I didn't bother to inflict stop on these needle birbs. Cactrots in vanilla will do this too if you don't deal with them fast enough. The next turn is 10 rapid fired Blow Fishes across all allies.
It didn't go well.
If playing at home, ice resistance will make this fight impossible to lose, but maybe not easy to win. N.Cross can be resisted but not even ice absorption will prevent it. It will wear off over time or if fire is cast on the party, but good luck with 5 very fast buggers spamming it. They are vulnerable to both slow and poison, so they can eventually die as long as it sticks.
This was just proving my theory that since Ice Dragon is a solo boss fight, that any of them falling would trigger the boss fade. The prize wasn't an offering for me, but an economizer. I didn't wager it, but asked liquidy to do it the other day before I won this one. The prize was a Force Shield, but it was against a bothersome fight. Is virtually free magic worth an eventual Paladin Shield? Maybe.
See you next time. I'm right now locked in a staring contest with Atma waiting for the fight to be shown in video form.
