NG+ Update 10: Wingless

Music: BioCorp

Examining the doll is what triggers the SOL scene we saw last time.

Turns out, we can actually examine it again and opt to take it with us once the scene is over.

Doing so nets us the Buki, a weapon for Nina. It has very high magic power and more range than standard staffs, has the powerful Mirage Blast and Mirage Bomb set to it, but no free level 2 or 3 slots for extra skills.

Mirage Bomb isn’t a skill we’ve seen before. It’s a weaker but cheaper version of Mirage Blast.

With that done, let’s quickly check up on the Fairy Colony.

My excavation teams wind up digging up some old chests full of zenny. Its peanuts compared to our NG+ fortune, but money is money.

Disaster strikes when the red team tries to dig under another boulder. This time they aren’t so lucky and wind up buried under the rubble.

Luckily the red team are all meatheads with enough HP to continue working.

The real heroes of this update are blue team, however. First they manage to uncover an unprecedented three new rooms for the colony.

They then proceed to evade one of the huge boulders that smooshed red team and get into a fight with an Antlion…

…which they somehow win while taking no damage whatsoever. This is very unusual; normally antlions are one of the more dangerous hazards in the underground.

Green team discover two more rooms. We’re making rapid progress, but that’s mostly down to having NG+ resources at our disposal. Without them things would be much slower.

This is what our Orders screen looks like now. Of note is our newly built Market, which we can now assign staff to and visit.

The Market is currently set up as a skill shop. We can change it so that it sells equipment by talking to the fairy, but right now we’re more interested in skills.

Right now the only new skill available is Hex.

Hex is a unique skill that can only be bought in the Colony. You can only use it once per battle, but it works wonders when it comes to grinding the game’s XP loops.

At the moment that’s all the skills the Colony has, but the inventory will update as research progresses.

With that done it’s time to start putting some of our newly excavated rooms to use. Our research lab has come up with three new jobs; the Cafeteria, the Explorer and the Music Room. As implied by the descriptions, the Cafeteria generates a small amount of revenue, the Explorer lets you send ants out on expeditions to gather rare items and equipment, and the Music Room gives you access to the OST.

The Cafeteria and Music Room are kind of useless in the long term, but this is a completionist run so I’ll show them off anyway.

There’s nothing more we can do in the Colony for now, so let’s continue with the main plot.

There’s not much to say about the rest of BioCorp. The next bit of new content comes right near the end, just before Ryu and company meet the scientist.

Music: Sorrowful Memories

A bright flash fills the screen as Nina recalls a memory from the past.

The camera pulls back to reveal a wingless Nina lying on the operating table.

The scientists look at one another and nod, before the screen fades to white again.

This scene is very brief, but it’s also the only time we see Nina before she was modified.

The rest of the scene plays out the same way as before, with scientist man getting a well deserved knuckle sandwich and Ryu resolving to bring Nina to the surface.
