(Slayer Commander Rhode) We can’t wait here forever – and besides you’re right. If she were still alive she’d have been back by now.
I reckon that stab you treated her just before she flew away must have finished her off.

No, I see now that I was wrong. I heard you and Marius talking in Farglow about the memory ritual, how dangerous it was, and how important it was that I get treated quickly. We could have gone to Rivertown. But you said to come here instead.
Don’t tell me that you would have been happy to go there instead of joining the hunt for the Dragon. You would have felt cheated had you been left behind.
You were never going to let me go on the hunt in the first place! You didn’t take me to Broken Valley for my benefit, it was all for your own personal glory! I bet you never gave me a second thought after leaving the village, did you?!
You shouldn’t have left! I gave you explicit orders and you promised to obey them!
As soon as Marius spotted the Dragon, you rushed right out. You never even told me the third part of the ritual. It’s been two days and nights since Talana died, and you didn’t even send word back to the village that you were still alive. How long was I supposed to wait for you to return?
You were supposed to wait until I returned! … I’m sorry, Slayer.

Marius – when it is done, soak the sword in the Dragon’s blood and bring it to the Academy so that it may serve as a warning for our disciples.

Rhode placed the hilt of Arben’s sword in Yara’s hand, and then she ran off towards the village.



We now have Arben's Sword back. Forever. No really, we can't drop it, we can't sell it, we can't destroy it, it's in our inventory for quite a long time, unless we find a certain quest. It doesn't count towards our weight limit, though.




This is not how I imagined this day would pass.
Marius, Gunther, Gene… it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re friends in arms. I don’t want to have to fight you.
You don’t have to fight us, Slayer. Use the sword Rhode gave you, and end your own life with dignity. No one will think less of you. It’ll be over quickly.

Yara looked at the sword in her hand, and firmly planted the blade into the dirt.

No. I can’t do that, Marius. I have a mission – to defeat Damian and destroy the Black Ring.
That will never happen. One way or another, you will be defeated and the Black Ring will be victorious.
Ha ha ha! You must be joking.
Isn’t that what the Dragon Slayers do as well? Fight the Black Ring as you did in Aleroth? I’m still pursuing the same end as you are, I still have the desire to end Damian’s tyranny. Let me pass, Marius, my friend.
I have my orders. Unlike you, I intend to obey them. You have but three choices, my friend. You can end your own life here and now, you can die in battle, or you can try to run and die a coward.
I’m not going to run.
There’s nothing for it, I suppose, so let’s get this over with. The Dragon must be slain! Pick up the sword and fight, Dragon!
I need no weapon.




Marius, Gene, and Gunther are our mini-boss for the end of the act. They’re all level 12, which makes them formidable even with my three-level advantage. Marius will engage us with his sword while Gene and Gunther pelt with arrows.

They have Stun Arrows, Magic Missile, Curse, Battle Rage, Healing, and probably some other skills I didn’t see. They hit hard, but they don’t have many more hit points themselves than Yara does, so they go down pretty quickly.

I took my helmet off so that no one would question why Rhode recognizes the woman in strange armour on sight, and I’m not using my creature because this is personal.




I lost 130 health in the first 4 seconds of the fight.




The next 6 seconds were no picnic either.



Healing





Gunther was the first Slayer to fall under Yara’s fists.




Then her fiery aura claimed Gene’s life.






Marius was a skilled fighter with a sword, however.




Life Tap


I wanted to show off some of the new level 15 skills. Here I didn’t have enough mana to cast Healing, so I cast Life Tap instead. Risky I know, sacrificing half of my <70 HP for a bit of mana.




Especially since Healing works over 8 seconds, so you can get killed under its effect.




That’s why it helps to have good reflexes.

I’ve gone through the thread and polished up a bunch of stuff, replacing headers with images, adding more detail to the skill analysis, putting the actual name of the quest in where the rewards are given out, stuff like that.
