Part 59: Q&A - November 23
Empire Total War: The Second 80 Years War quick online Q&A
Q: Why would the Dutch send troops all the way from Europe to Cuba when they're having so many battles in Europe?
A: The Dutch had actually buffered themselves away from the rest of the world sufficiently to carry troops to the Americas, the organization and transit would have taken a year and a half. However, the Dutch used the Dutch Americas Marines, who were soldiers functionally attached to the navy (and were, coincidently from Amsterdam, but organized in Guyana.) They were a minority however, the majority were either native troops or local militia (many of mixed native descent.)
