Part 11: Alternate Route
Part 12: Alternate RouteSo back to generic environments for this level. Subway and sewer levels are as old as time, and despite the fact that every person to ever mock video game conventions talks about that fact people still put them into games like it is a thing. This one in particular reminded me of Monolith's other big release in the last console generation: Condemned. There's a very similar level in the first game in that series that takes place in an abandoned subway system. Here's a question: Why the hell are there Replica soldiers down in the subway? It's heavily implied they were only down there because we dove down, yet they were posted up in nearly every room and on each track in the place already.
From what I've heard there are people working on locations along with the story team, so sometimes you end up somewhere and don't have a good story reason why you should be fighting people there. This level fits that bill, as it appears to be a hell of a transition from where we were to where we ultimately need to be and only serves as a minor detour to the next important locations.
