Part 62: Final: An Undying Oath - Part 2
Final: An Undying Oath - Part 2It's finally time to win. To reach Berdo, we need to kill his six Dark Warriors and capture the spaces they're standing on. It's go time.
(Player Phase)
(Enemy Phase)
How exactly you approach this map depends a lot on how your units get distributed, so let's take a look at what the game gave us.
Leaf is accompanied by Lara and Homer. Not the most powerful team in the world, but it'll do.
Leaf's opponent is Reidric 2.0. Beyond having Wrath, Eins is functionally identical to Reidric. Use the Blade of Blagi to take him down.
These guys accompany Reidric. Neither are much of a threat.
Our next team is Karin, Seram and Tina.
Their Dark Warrior is Funf. Funf isn't that bad, she's not that strong and since she only attacks at a range Wrath isn't much of a problem. Prayer can be a nuisance though. Interesting thing about the Dark Warriors - if certain characters are dead or captured instead of the generic class art they'll have the portrait of one of these characters. Funf will take on Eyvel's appearance, which is fairly clever because of the Brigid reveal last mission.
Funf's goons.
Shiva, Makua and Sara? Don't mess with this team.
While the Berserk Sword + Ambush is annoying as hell, Zwolf isn't terribly hard. Wrath is nullified by Ambush, and you can attack him at range to get around his sword. That said, all the Dark Warriors will move, so you can't just chip away at him from afar. Zwolf will take on the appearance of a deceased Lifis.
His friends.
Marita, Carion and Fergus make up the group in the upper-center, which is good, because fuck Zwei.
He's literally Galzus, except not recruit-able. He can attack from afar, has a PCC of 3 and has multiple Sword Skills. He can fuck you up, get a movement star, then fuck you up again. Unsurprisingly, Zwei will take on Galzus's appearance if he's dead.
I don't know why you'd put an Armor near Zwei, but if you do... welp.
Olwen, Nanna and Galzus are faced with taking down the upper right Dark Warrior.
Elf is without a doubt, the most annoying Dark Warrior. Attack her, and she'll crit you and fully restore any damage she's taken. Don't attack her, she'll start slinging Berserks, which is really bad when you're divided into 6 groups. She comes with the same skill load out as Sara, and will take on her appearance if she's dead.
Her backup.
And we have our last group. Sety, Marty and Linoan ended up here, which is a shame because that's a lot more firepower then we need.
Drei is not that strong. His PCC of 4 could be dangerous, but he's slow enough that what the hell is wrong with you if he's doubling? He also has inexplicably high move. He'll take on Dagda's appearance.
His goons.
It's the final battle. Let's go.
We start with Eins. He's got a couple of leadership stars that we want to get rid of as soon as possible.
A point of skill. He has 20 skill. Not that it matter anymore, but still
We can eat a crit if need be, so let's gamble. Our hit rate is shit because not only are the Dark Warriors on terrain that gives +20 avoid, but they're also befitting from Berdo's 5 leadership stars.
Fuck
That could have gone better.
Anyways, Lara got a movement star, so Homer takes a second turn and heals Leaf. He gets Skill and Speed for troubles. Bah.
Next, we really want to kill Elf this turn. Berserk sucks.
Bear with me here, this gets a little convoluted.
Linoan warps Sety...
Who then warps Marita...
Who busts out Marita's Sword and takes down Elf. Marita's Sword gives her the Awareness skill, which nullifies enemy skills. I saved a couple of its uses to kill Elf.
Remember the rest of the threats on the map? Remember how even with +10 magic, they only had 19 magic?
Status effects are magical
A brief intermission from Status effect goodness. Olwen opens the door using a door key, and Galzus murders the Dark Mage.
Taking advantage of the magic boost, Nanna can silence this asshole. We don't want to leave any of the Fenrir users capable, and we won't manage to kill this one first turn.
Case in point. The magic boost is too much for Karin to overcome.
What, did you expect me not to use my last promotion item?
With Zwei safely sleeping, we can bust through the door here and have Carion kill the Dark Mage.
The names are different but the events the same.
And so ends our first turn.
The mooks swarm us. If we can counter, we kill them.
If we can't, we make do.
Drei learns a valuable lesson. You can't beat Marty in an axe-throwing contest.
[Marty: Lv. 15, Hp: 65, Str: 20, Mgc: 7, Skl: 19, Spd: 20, Luk: 20, Def: 20, Bld: 20]
Fucking Big Shield.
Strike a pose Leaf...
You get to kill the fucker twice.
Homer follows up with some healing.
Another army brought down by sleeping. When will we learn the dangers of sleeping?
That magic boost. So annoying.
Not so tough now, are you Zwei?
I'm getting Deja vu here.
[Makua: Lv. 17, Hp: 45, Str: 20, Mgc: 6, Skl: 20, Spd: 20, Luk: 16, Def: 18, Bld: 14]
And so ends our second turn.
We make it through the enemy phase. Somehow.
Karin kills the silenced Dark Mage, but Funf survives because of Prayer. She's a goddamn homunculus made by a satanic cult, stop granting her prayers
Elsewhere, we keep killing any still living mooks.
And down she goes!

So, uh Berdo. He's uh... well uh... he sucks. He's not bad, but just look at him. He's the final boss of Thracia 776 and those are his stats. His only skills are Continue and Life (Hp regen) for god's sake.
He does come with the Stone spell though, which is ridiculously accurate, and petrifies anyone he hits. It's also a Siege tome, which can be fairly nasty.
So you know what sucks in Fire Emblem? When all your units are huddled together and the enemies have a bunch of status effect users spread around.
yup
sucks all right.
But we're not done yet. No sir. We're finishing this game in style. And by that, I mean a flaming fuck you built upon every thing we've taken from the game over 30 some chapters.
yoink
yoink
And that's the story of how a 15 year old girl completely humiliated one of the century's greatest villains.
While that was going on, Leaf was charging the mass of Berserkers head on.
Cathartic.
We're not quite done yet though, we still have more supplies.
We warp Marty in...
We warp Fergus in...
[Fergus: Lv. 15, Hp: 46, Str: 20, Mgc: 4, Skl: 20, Spd: 20, Luk: 18, Def: 16, Bld: 14]
A movement star means even Sara gets a turn!
The enemy phase goes poorly for the Berserkers.
Let's end this charade.
Carion joins in too, because why the fuck not?
[Carion: Lv. 20, Hp: 55, Str: 20, Mgc: 7, Skl: 20, Spd: 20, Luk: 20, Def: 20, Bld: 20]
And there we have it. There's nobody left but us, and an unarmed final boss. We could go the plot appropriate way and do this...
Hahaha... You ignorant fools dare challenge me? Curse your fate... Now witness my power!
Guh... I-Impossible... How could I... But...it isn't over yet... Even if I fall...Lopto will live on... No one can stop...the rebirth of the Lopto Empire... May you...writhe in pain until then...fools... Heh...heh... Hahahahaha...ha...
But that's no fun. Let's go with some karmic murder:
Or let's just do it the easy way.
Or maybe get some inter-family murder going on.
Everybody wants a turn!
Earth!
Fire!
Wind!
Thunder!
By your powers combined, I am... ah shit we forgot heart. also Thunder isn't water.
Hell, did you notice he doesn't have 20 build?
We could capture him too.
But we all know there's only one way this can end.
Straight twenties.

The Thracian people have finally been freed from the grip of the Lopto Church... Congratulations, Lord Leaf. You fought very well thus far.
No... It's all thanks to you, August. You were the one who led me, and taught me to be a strong leader. Without you, I would have been completely lost. Thank you, August... I'm glad I was able to meet you. You have my eternal gratitude.
Well, well... Perhaps now is the time to tell you. I offered to become your advisor because I was ordered to do so by...one of my superiors. Frankly, at first I didn't think we would be able to liberate Northern Thracia. However, after seeing you keep trying and never giving up...I began to feel hope, and I found myself believing in you. My words in the past may have been insulting... Forgive me, Lord Leaf.
August... Your words indeed came down heavily on me, but more important to me were the lessons that were in them. You taught me to truly understand the suffering and sorrow of the people. August, I want to ask you to stay by my side. I need you, August...
Nanna's going to be heartbroken.
Yes... As you wish, Lord Leaf...
What? Already? What about Lord Celice?
He is headed our way to help liberate Manster. He probably does not yet know of our victory.
I see... Lord Celice...he was able to breach the tough walls of Conote in only a day. ...Still, I would have liked to be able to defeat King Blume with my own hands.
Yes... But, Lord Leaf, Northern Thracia is now free. The people are overjoyed at our victory. They are calling out your name, saying that Thracia was saved by the son of Lord Cuan.
Finn, we've really been through a lot. It's thanks to you that I was able to endure the hardships and come this far. But you were always suffering more than me...you gave up everything to raise me. I really don't know how to thank you, Finn...
Lord Leaf, the only nation in Northern Thracia has a male heir is Lenster. The people want you to take the throne and unite Lenster, Alster, Conote, and Manster under one flag. Make their wishes come true, Lord Leaf. To unite Thracia into a prosperous and peaceful nation like the days of Dain and Nova...that is what your father always wanted, and is also what I ask of you.
I know. There's no turning back now. It's my responsibility to take care of Northern Thracia. Whether the north and south will unite or not depends on King Trabant, but I'll do what I can. Right, Fin...?
Yes, Lord Leaf...
What? Why? You're not coming with us?
Pirates are attacking the villages on the coast again, so we need to return to protect the villagers. And besides, we won't be of any help in your future battles...
But...Eyvel...
Lord Leaf, I shall be looking forward to the day that you defeat the Empire and return to Lenster. When you do, we will be sure to visit and celebrate.
...I suppose so... All right, Eyvel. I promise I'll return when it's all over. So until then...
Yes... We will be waiting for you, Lord Leaf.
Princess Miranda? What's the matter?
I...have to apologize to you.
If it's about Dorias, don't worry about it. That was my responsibility, not yours. And Alster was successfully liberated by Lord Celice, so the people should be happy that their princess was safe.
Well, yes, but... The people want more than that. My advisers are urging me to marry you so that we can unite with Lenster. They think they can just tell me what to do because I'm a girl...
Well, you and I are the only heirs that survived this turmoil. What your advisers are saying only makes sense. But I'm not sure...
Do you not like me? That's okay, but...
No, that's not it. I still have things to do. We still have the Grandbell Empire and other divisions of the Lopto Church to deal with, and we also have to defend Northern Thracia from invaders. There's just too much on my mind to be thinking about whether I love someone or not...
...... Very well, I shall be waiting for your return at Alster. But, don't expect to win my hand until you do everything you intend to accomplish! Understood, Prince Leaf?
Linoan... Northern Thracia is back in our hands, but Tahra is still captured. I promise I'll reclaim it some day. You'll come with me then, right, Linoan?
Yes, of course, Lord Leaf!
Thracia is my home country... I can't fight any more. You should go with the prince. He'll protect you...
Dean... What are you saying...? I... I can't do you [sic] without you, Dean...
I thought the typo in the script dump was funny enough to keep around.
Lady Linoan...?
I would give up Tahra before losing you... So please, stay with me, Dean...
Stop being a child, Lady Linoan! ...But... Perhaps I'll reconsider... I would be hurting both Prince Leaf and my lord if I left now...
Come on, Lady Nanna! I know, I'll help you out! Lord Leaf!
Marita? What's the matter?
There you go, Lady Nanna...
Leaf...
Thank you, Nanna... I was able to come this far thanks to you.
No... I haven't done anything...
Yes, you did. We grew up like brother and sister, but you were always the one helping me. I was able to come this far because you were always there for me, to support me and cheer me up. Nanna, once this war ends, I'll go look for Lachesis as well. And when I find her, I'm going to ask her directly...for your hand, Nanna...
! ...Leaf...
Our fight is still far from over... But you'll come with me, right, Nanna?
Yes, Leaf...
So uh.. remember how Leaf just told Miranda he was too busy for a relationship in a couple more words? It would tactful if he didn't just do this immediately afterwards. She'll find out you know.
Lord Leaf, Lord Celice is here to see you.
It looks like you didn't need my help after all. I'm glad to see you safe.
Lord Celice! This is all thanks to you. Thank you very much.
No, you liberated Northern Thracia on your own, prince. I did nothing. Northern Thracia will now unite into a single nation under you. It would be our dream come true if such a large and rich nation were to help fight against the Empire. Lord Leaf, I wish to ask you to continue to help us in our struggle. We still have many things to do, and many hardships to overcome. But I believe that together, we would be able to triumph over anything. I want to pledge an oath with you to be lifelong friends, like our fathers before us.
Yes! I always thought of you as an older brother. It would be an honor to be able to support you, Lord Celice.
Good! Then let us swear by this blade. When we were born was different, but when we die will be the same. Together, as comrades, brothers, and friends forever...let us swear to join hands and stand up to save this world from evil!
Yes, Lord Celice!
Now go play FE4.
