Part 2: Soviet Domination - Part 2

Soviet Domination

The second part of the introduction. It teaches us the basics of the gameplay and about the most important mechanics. Also I take a good step towards my goal of murdering all the Commies. And I forgot the description of the Molotovs from the first update, it's below.

Characters

Troy Stone

Get's rescued during a resistance raid on an occupied post office, and then also joins the resistance.

Isabella Angelina

Co-leader of the Manhattan Resistance. Prior to the invasion Isabella was a political activist, leader of the "Warning Against Reds" movement. She becomes a prominent leader in the New York resistance and plays a key role in its liberation from the Soviets.

Colonel Bulba

The acting head of the KGB in New York City. A shadowy figure that directs the Soviet operations against the resistance. Nothing more is known about him.

Weapons

Assault rifle

"The most commonly used rifle in the Red Army. This basic but effective weapon holds 30 shots and does the job in most fire fights."

I'm sure that this one is modeled after the AK-74. It's a very solid and useful weapon, and you'll probably use it for the majority of the game. It's decently accurate and powerful, but also comes with a good rate of fire and is easy to keep supplied. I'm going to use this one a whole lot, since it's basically able to perform well in any situation.

Shotgun

"This semi-auto shotgun is a close-range weapon that spreads it's blast over a wide area. The magazine holds 8 shells."

Seems like it's modeled after the SPAS-12. The shotgun is a very powerful, but situational weapon. It can bang out a lot of pellets in a matter of seconds, but the accuracy drops massively after a few feet. A beast in cramped areas, but basically useless out in the streets. I'll use it a few times in the game, mainly when I know that it will perform well.

Molotov Cocktail

"A crude incendiary weapon consisting of a glass bottle filled with flammable liquid, usually gasoline, and a rag stuffed in the mouth of the bottle. The rag is lit before throwing the bottle at the target. The bottle shatters on impact, spilling the burning liquid over the target."

A very effective, but tricky weapon. You can throw them quite far, and the lingering fire-effect will kill a lot of the enemies in the game. It's very good to take out soldiers behind cover! But the throwing mechanic takes a bit of skill and I never fully get used to it.

C4 Plastic Explosives

"This innocent looking stuff, similar to the appearance of gray modeling clay, packs enough punch to destroy entire buildings. C4 is highly prized and can be hard to obtain."

This isn't really a weapon, as it can only be used on mission objectives. You have to scavenge for it in the beginning, but later you'll be able to grab it from the Base.

Enemies

Soviet Officer - Special skills: Command

These guys are the commanders of the standard Soviet soldiers. Burly guys with red berets, a thick vest and a shotgun. They can take a good deal of damage to their body, like 2.5 times what a soldier can take, and will stomp you with their shotguns if you let them get too close. They are somewhat scarce in the beginning of the game, but become regular sights as you progress. They usually hold back tough, and only charge at you when they are on their own or already close to you. Their skill is a bit of a mystery. They will rally normal soldiers around them and direct them towards you. So they are kind of an alarm, in a way. But I'm also fairly sure that they enable the basic soldiers to be more coordinated and aggressive.
