Part 2: Mission #2: Takemura in Name, McRage in Spirit!
Mission #2: Takemura in Name, McRage in Spirit! The people have spoken.
: No, thanks. I'm tired.
: You suck. You giving me the cold shoulder? How cruel.
: Use the testing site anytime. I'm sure you're too tired now, though.
The testing site functions as a tutorial, I'm better than a million tutorials, so we'll skip it. Let's go back to the dorm instead.
Kind of disappointing, I was at least hoping for a giant Phish poster on the wall...
: Oh, I have mail.
Alisa posted:
How are you?
Is it warm in Okinawa?
I want to be there.
I was transferred to
the lab in Yokosuka Base.
You go there a lot,
don't you?
Maybe we'll see each other.
Good luck with work.
P.S.
Don't forget my souvenir!
: Alisa... She's working at a JDF base? Maybe I'll get her a souvenir.
And so, the course of history was forever changed by Kazuki decided to get his sister a cheap souvenir.
To the mall!
This is an official announcement. Parts of the city are under construction. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you.
: That's what Ryogo was talking about. There sure are a lot of JDF soldiers here...
: Kazuki! What's up, dude?
: Ryogo!
: What are you doing here? Buying souvenir for a girlfriend?
: No, nothing like that! Buying something for Alisa.
: Oh, your sister. She's a real cutie. Even though you're not related to her by blood.
Now, anyone who's played Lunar just involuntarily cringed, but don't worry, she's not his sister by blood for an entirely different reason.
: Screw you! Did you finish the delivery?
: Yeah. A JDF soldier told me to get the hell out.
: Why would there be a JDF soldier at the site?
: No idea. I guess they're supervising. I'm done, dude. Let's go. We're in Okinawa. Let's have some fun!
Kazuki does not believe in fun!
Back to work!
: Yeah...
: You guys really get along, huh? We're set to take off. You're coming with us also, Ryogo.
: What!? You're joking, right? But I just got here...
: Sorry, we're short of people. Besides you're done with the delivery.
: They never told me I was only gonna be here a day!
: It's our job! Quit complaining.
: Doesn't Kazuki's father work at Yokosuka Base? Isn't he a JDF officer?
: ...
: What's wrong?
: Forgot to warn you, Dr. Koike. You can't ever talk about his father.
Oh, man, a jRPG hero with daddy issues? Man, we're really breaking new ground here!
: I see. Sorry I asked...
: Don't worry about it. It's for our job. Right, Kazuki?
: I didn't say anything.
: The wanzers will finish loading soon. Meet me at the heliport when you're ready.
: Let's get this done and go home!
: Are you ready? If you are, report to the heliport. Oh, I gave you access to the company web site. Take a look later.
Well, time to get this show on the road...
My God, the Earth! What has happened to it?! The Continents and seas have shifted, it there no-
Oh, it was on its side. Well, then.
Yokosuka base...
Yep, we came by helicopter. Turns out that the greatest advance on the last century in this game was building slightly largely rotor-craft.
This looks like a really inefficient way of transporting Wanzers, especially since their main selling point is their compartmentalization.
: Identification please.
: Kirishima Industries. Delivering new wanzers.
: Kirishima, huh? You've been cleared.
: Let's finish this job and get back!
: What kind of talk is that?
I think Kazuki is constitutionally incapable of not snapping at Ryogo every five seconds.
: Kazuki, Ryogo, unload the wanzers.
: Hey, Ryogo, don't slack off!
: What? There's more work?
: Enough, just hurry it up!
And then an explosion happens. The screen flashes to white, and you all momentarily assume that the majority of you made a poor decision. You did, but the game continues...
Accidental explosion on the base
All available personnel report in.
There is a risk of second explosion.
All non-essential personnel evacuate.
That's all the excuse Kazuki needs to lose his shit!
: Hey, calm down, Kazuki. This base is huge, we're safe.
: Stupid! Alisa's in the base! I'm going to check it out!
: Hey, where are you going!? It's dangerous!
: Kazuki, stop it. There might be poison gas and contaminants!
: It doesn't matter in this thing!
: Hey, Kazuki, what are you doing!? Stop! Get out of the wanzer!
: Sorry! I'll write any apologies you need after thi
: Hey, hey, are you serious? Okay, but I'm not responsible!
: You too, Ryogo!? What are you two thinking!?
: Sorry, Kazuki's writing my apology!
Dear Japan,
Sorry for making Ryogo commit light treason, it was a mistake and I promise it probably won't happen again.
Your pal,
the 5th Senor of Goodtimes,
Kazuki Takemura
: What's that wanzer doing? Stop immediately!
: It's an emergency! Let us through!
: That's the scene of the accident. No need for you in there. Stop, or you will be attacked! Take shelter in that transport, hurry!
: Stubborn as a pig...What do we do? They won't let us through.
: I don't have time for you. I'm getting through, no matter what!
: You two aren't giving up!?
And they start shooting
: Whoa!
: Take off now. We can't anger the army any more. What are those two thinking...?
And we're left to die...
: Damn! These guys are serious!
: Wait Kazuki, calm down or we're gonna get it!
: Fine, leave. I'll help Alisa by myself!
I do enjoy the insane overreaction of Kazuki when it comes to all things concerning Alisa. He sees an explosion near where she might be working, and he immediately assumes that everyone is purposefully trying to keep him from saving her.
: Alright, let's go. Don't aim for the pilots! I'm not gonna be a murderer...
Hey, if I should manage to kill one of their pilots, then I'm all for it, it's a profitable way to complete missions.
: Why aren't you stopping... This is the west service dock. The wanzers are breaking through.
: You have permission to engage. Dead or alive. Don't let them onto the accident scene!
: Yeah. Yes, sir.
Another semi-tutorial, the enemies are in the same Jinyos are last time, and we're still in the Shunyos.
Ryogo's got a Machine Gun. They cost 5 AP to attack, 8 to counter. They have 4 range, 1 better than shotguns, and do a bit more damage, but the damage is randomly allocated amongst the parts of an enemy Wanzer. Overall, they're about as good as shotguns.
The battle gets cut short as they enemy pilots retire from battle after taking a certain amount of damage. Which, I suppose, at least means that they won't be able to tack on murder charges, and attempted murder carries significantly less jail time. Things are looking up for ol' Kazuki...
: It's way too strong! I have to get out! Wait for backup!
And...
: This is it...
Well, we just attacked an army base, Ryogo. If we were a country, that'd be an act of war, as it is, we'll be fine so long as this large army base contained only two Wanzers.
: I'll listen to your complaints later. Alisa's more important now!
And then Kazuki takes a missile to his Wanzer
: Whoa!
: Stop!
: Stop! Throw down your weapons now!!
: Get out of my way! My sister is on the base!
: That doesn't matter! You're under arrest!
: Under arrest!?
: I told you so...
: What!? I'm only here to help my sister!
Yeah! Therefore, Kazuki can't be arrest no matter how many people he almost kills!
: Destroying army wanzers and disrupting the base. You must be real pros.
: We have a reason, please listen!
: Quiet! Out of the wanzers, now! Keep talking and I'll shoot you like a dog!
: Are you threatening us!?
: Cut it out, Kazuki, these guys are serious.
: All right, fine!
If not being shot to death by the army is that important to you, Ryogo...
: Soldier, haul these men in!
: Yes, sir!
Well, that's it for this mission. Great job guys, I give you a choice and you manage to get the entire party sent to prison in less than one update. Democracy never works.
Next Time: 30 years to life!
