Part 130: Mission #62: March of the Submarines
Mission #62: March of the Submarines: It's our turn to attack!
: Let's attack Sasebo!
: Commander Taniyama! Sasebo Base wants to negotiate a cease fire.
Kazuki has become so deadly a warrior that his words alone can bring his enemies to their knees.
: A cease fire? What are they scheming now!?
: They dispatched a messenger.
: Is it a trap?
: It's hard to tell.
: Maybe they realized their mistake.
Yeah, I'm really sure the coup forces are just going to march up to us and apologize for trusting Lukav and ask us to go kill him. That would make TONS of sense.
: I hope so...
: Did you finally realize your mistake?
: You're still pretty cocky. It's not me. Him.
: Taniyama, there's no point in fighting anymore.
: Takemura!?
: I knew you were working for Sasaki!
: Shut up and listen for a change! Commander Taniyama, we don't have much time.
: I'm listening.
: Yes. Chief of Staff Sasaki agreed.
: Why would he agree!? He was willing to start a civil war!
: The situation changed.
: What happened!?
: The DHZ fleet began invading Japan.
: !?
: It's Lukav.
: Yes.
: He's using the DHZ fleet to get MIDAS.
Which does lead to somewhat of a plothole. Leaving aside whether the DHZ military would be depleted after the recent civil war, there is the issue of the fact that we actually saw the DHZ invasion fleet earlier in the game...about ten seconds before MIDAS vaporized it outside of Batangas.
Taniyama: Why didn't you stop him!?
: We didn't think he would risk anything like this.
: I told you not to underestimate him!
: He used you all. He wants MIDAS. He'd destroy Japan to get it.
: He was waiting for Sasaki to start a civil war. He never intended to work with us.
On the one hand, I guess it's kind of nice that the coup faction is admitting they fucked up and now want to help us make things right. On the other, the coup storyline just kind of petered out there.
: And now you're begging us for help!? That's why it was so easy for Lukav to use you!
: Stop it, Kazuki! What's done is done. Think about what we can do to stop him. Now is not the time to lay blame. We must stop Lukav.
: We brought this on ourselves.
: All right, we'll agree to the cease fire. What now? Do we know where Lukav is?
: Lukav is headed for Okinawa.
: Okinawa?
: MIDAS is in Okinawa Ocean City.
: If he gets MIDAS, the entire world will be in danger. We must stop that from happening at all cost. Taniyama, go with Kawada to fight off the DHZ fleet.
: Okay!
: We're thinking of our country. I won't let the DHZ invade us!
: We'll be separated from now on. Don't worry we'll take care of the DHZ fleet.
Oh, random NPC, I was never worried about that...
: What about us!?
: Kazuki, you're going to stop Lukav!
: ! Why? You don't even trust me.
: Because you understand Lukav. You also have 2 people who understand how Lukav thinks. Kazuki, prove to me what you've been doing is right!
: Kazuki, let's go. Let's put an end to all this.
An end would be nice....
: You can do it!
: You can stay behind if you're scared, Kazuki!
: Shut up!
: All right. Let's get going!
: Wait, you're coming with us!?
: Of course. You don't know the layout of Ocean City.
: How do we get to Okinawa? Is there any way we can sneak in?
: Misumi Harbor is nearby. There should be a new type of LST in the garage.
: Lukav wouldn't know that.
: Okay, everyone!
: We don't have much time. Let's hurry!
Almost done with the Japanese mainland.
: There should be one at the dock! Hurry and load the wanzers!
: Who made you the leader!?
: Targets in LZ. All units, initiate landing!
My God....a submarine that has evolved to walk on land...we cannot defeat beings capable of such feats....all is lost...
: All units, commence attack!
: Kazuki!
: Tch, they jumped ahead of us! They know...
: I knew this wasn't going to be easy.
: Get back! It's dangerous here!
: I know!
: Be careful, Kazuki!
: Don't worry!
A lovely view of the warehouse. Ryogo, Yun, Marcus and Kazuki are up. Against them are a couple of Tiandongs, a couple of Qibings and two of those land submarines, which are essentially just giant missile wanzers. The Qibings are the real threat here, since they have loads and loads of HP.
Get ye back to thy watery home!
See, not so tough.
Force-ejection...well, tradition is tradition.
I can't wait for this game to be over, if only because I'm tired of being afraid that every single attack is going to force-eject my pilot.
A nice combo by Ryogo, but Qibings are just so damn tough...
...that he still gets killed because of a lucky fist shot by Rosavia. That's the first wanzer I've lost in a long time. And I'm pretty sure it's the last one I lose in the entire game
Yun levels a Tiandong which is about ten missions past obsolescence by this point.
Kazuki wins the battle of improbable futuristic weapons of war as his plodding mech is just slightly less ridiculous than a submarine with legs welded on.
Yun captures a Qibing, which is nice as they're relatively hard to get.
Not my brightest hour. Yun wins MVP.
: Load 'em up! We're running out of time!
: Okay, everyone go in with the wanzers. They're all loaded! Let's move out!
: I copy that. Here we go!
And off we go!
Next Time: Okinawa: It's not just for Hattori Hanzo Swords anymore!
