Part 7: A Pirate's Life For Me

Well, at least now we know why Fritz is so afraid of Marie.

Update 6: A Pirate's Life For Me

Last time, Captain Hal told us to go fight pirates in giant robots. How could we refuse?


We traveled all the way to India for this. Seriously.
: Port Marley, at last! We better avoid a repeat of what happened at Angelina!


Oh Fritz, you don't know me very well at all.
: Are you out of your mind? Quit messing around!
: Just kidding! I'll radio the Unicorn people.
"Spoilsport..."
: We heard about you from Constable Ox of Angelina.
: Constable Ox?
: That's right. He told us to help you out if you ever came along. You're free to enter the town. Just get out of your Mobile Suits first.
: Roger that, and thanks!


: The... ocean? What's that?
Damn, the girl got slapped with amnesia so hard she forgot what the ocean was.
: Huh? You've never heard of the ocean?
: Why? Is that strange?
: Er, no! Not at all. Tell you what. Why don't we go down to the docks and take a look?
: Yes! I'd love to!
: We'll be down by the water, then. Catch you later, okay?
With those two gone, Cheeto takes care of some important business.


"Those pirates ain't got nothing on me."


"Foiled at every turn!"
Our looting out of the way, we decide to go see Aeon.


"Fritz got bored and wandered off, huh?"
: Cheeto! You surprised me.
"Yeah, does he do this often?"


"For as long as I've known him. Like trying to train a squirrel, that boy."
: I was thinking about you.
: Huh? About me? Er, I mean... Like...
: Is something wrong?
: Oh, nothing! Nothing at all! I'm cool!
: I was just thinking. You don't know me at all. Why are you being so nice to me?
: Maybe it's because I was in the same boat, just a few years ago. I know what it's like to be all alone.
: Alone? You?
: Yeah. Not a friend in the world. Not until Miss Natalie took me to her orphanage anyway.
Okay, what? Did Miss Natalie travel the world finding displaced kids and whisking them off to her orphanage? The hell? How did she ever find the time to, I dunno, manage the orphans she already HAD?
: So I guess... I don't want anyone to feel like I did back then. Ever.


: I... I am!?
: Did I say something wrong?
: Uh, no! Anyway, I need to get ready. We'll be leaving soon.
: I see. I'd like to look at the ocean just a little longer.
Aw, that was touching. Now to talk to the local Constable about these pirates.


: Ah! Are we glad to see you! You may have heard already. Our town has been under constant attack by pirates! Our fishing and trading has practically stopped because of them. We've tried to fight back, but they have Mobile Suits. There's no way we can stop them. We need your help! Can you drive the pirates away? The Pireat Base is in an old military port to the east of here We'll pay a reward to anyone who can get rid of them for us. Can you help us? You're our last hope!
Wow, the guy didn't let Cheeto get a word in edgewise. In any case, I think our next destination is pretty clear. We're heading east!


Oh, hey. Another Boost Gouf.


Fuck that noise. That's right, he knocked Aeon's HP down from 91 to 25 in one non-critical, non-boost hit.


Alright, so here we are on the east coast of India.
: Think we'll be okay on our own?
: We'll be fine! You worry too much Fritz.
: Cheeto... I sense danger in this place.
: Sense danger? What do you mean?
: I'm not sure... It's like... a bad feeling.
: See? What did I tell you? Let's go back.
: No, Fritz. So what if it's dangerous? We have to keep going!
: Wait for me!


Aw crap! I just waxed this thing!


Hm... a fork in the path. Let's go left.


Oh, a couple of Acguys. This battle really wasn't fair. We wrecked them.


But that's what they get for trying to keep me from treasure.


Hey, this is new. Fritz is suffering from the Acid status ailment. It's this game's equivilant of poison. It's kind of a pain, but easy to take care of. I've got plenty of Acid clearing items. No big deal


Travelling around the winding and rainy paths, we come to a sub-boss battle!


SUB-BOSS BATTLE: Z'GOK
Well, despite this being one of my very favorite Mobile Suits, I really don't have a lot to say about this fight.


I mean, sure, he was tough for a little while


But take away his obscene attack power and he's really nothing.


: Phew... I'm alive, I guess.
Fun fact: Fritz got shot down in this battle too. That makes him 2 for 3 so far.
: I'm all right, too.
: Great! We're all okay, then!
: The enemies here, they're kind of different, aren't they?
They're amphibious!
: Yeah. I think there's more to these pirates than meets the eye!
: I knew it! We're in over our heads! Let's get out of here!


: We swore an oath to Miss Natalie and our friends!
: Of course I remember! Okay, okay... Let's get this over with.


Huh, a save point. If I were a bettin' man, I'd say there's a boss coming up.


: Feel what?
: A powerful enemy! Just ahead!
: I don't pick anything up on the radar. Are you sure?
: Yes, I feel it. There's danger here...
: Oh, come on! Mobile Suits are machines! It's not like you can feel their presence, is it?
: But I do! Like a voice in my head, telling me to turn back!
: In your head? What are you talking about?


: But I know there's danger up ahead.
: Okay! I trust you, Aeon. I know you wouldn't lie to us!
: I believe you, too!
: Thank you.
: Okay, keep your eyes peeled. We don't know what's waiting for us. As long as we stick together, we can beat anyone or anything!
"Okay, does that fill my inspirational leadership quota for the day?"
: When you talk like that, I almost believe you!
: I believe you! Let's go! The enemy is nearby!
At least I have the support of ONE of my team members. Anyway, on the other side of the docks...


: Where? Which way?
: Nothing on the radar. Where the heck is it!?
: It's coming from the ocean! Look out!


Oh God... is it a shark!?

"Aww, lookit his stubby widdle legs!"
: Man, that sucker's HUGE!
: Is this a Mobile Suit, too?


: We're here to defeat you and save Port Marley!
: Stupid kids! I'll show you what happens when you go against the Dark Alliance!
: The Dark Alliance? I knew it! If you're part of the Alliance, you should know who Vladi Zarth is!
: You've heard of Lord Zarth? So you're not just any kid...
: Tell me where he is!
: Why should I? You're as good as dead anyway.
: You're our only lead! We'll force it out of you if we have to!


: Do you have any idea who I am? I'm Oceanstorm Weaver, one of the four Generals of the Alliance! Taste the power of my Mobile Suit, the amphibious Zock!
Pfft, how tough could he be?


: I've analyzed the enemy Mobile Suit! It has incredible firepower! We need to Defend against its Boost Attacks, or risk being wiped out! Please trust me on this!
: You analyzed it? How did you do that!?
: I - I don't know... Am I weird?
Considering one of her techniques is called "Analyze"... Way to pay attention to your teammates, Cheeto.
: No! It's great... I'm just surprised, that's all. Anyway, thanks for the info. I'll keep that in mind!


Anyway, the Zock is actually a different class of giant robot. It's called a Mobile Armor. Mobile Armors greatly outclass Mobile Suits in armor, firepower, and sometimes speed.


The best part of Mobile Armors in this game? They don't counterattack when you hit them with a melee strike.


And here's one of the Boost Attacks Aeon warned us about.


As you can see, if I defend against it I'm usually okay.


When I don't defend, on the other hand...


And that's with a defense buff!


In any case, let's finish this bastard off!


Hell yeah. By the way, that symbol over Cheeto's name means Acid Barrier. I gave P'Zone an optional part that makes it immune to Acid.


: You may have beaten me, but you still don't stand a chance... The Dark Alliance... is all over the world now...


"Oh yeah? Well... there's explosions all over your FACE now! Oh man, I'm so witty..."


: Wow, he was tough!
: I thought I was dead meat!
Yeah... he was shot down in this battle too. 3 for 4.
: We might not have made it if Aeon hadn't warned us!
: Yeah, that's for sure! Hey, Aeon. How did you figure out that stuff about the enemy?
"Really you guys. I have this skill? It's called Analyze. I use it to - get this - analyze enemies. Why aren't you listening to me?"


: Voices in my head... my mind...
: Voices? Whose voices?
: I don't know. But I heard them. It felt so strange.
: I wonder if it has anything to do with your lost memories?
: Am I strange? Different from everyone else?
: Listen. We're alive, thanks to you! What's not being strange. That's being a great friend!
Aww.
: Aeon, you stick with us, okay? We need you!
: Thank you. I'll do what I can.
Okay, time to go back to town. I COULD go back the long way, dealing with random encounters all the while, but I'm going to cheat a little.

Looks like tomorrow we're getting ourselves a new toy.

An amphibious Mobile Suit made from many of the same internal components of the Zaku II. Along with the Z'Gok, this Mobile Suit was a large part of Zeon's invasion of the Federation's HQ in Jaburo.

Actually developed by the Zeon as an attempt to further increase the versatility of the Zaku. Very few units were actually kept in service because of how troublesome the water seals could be. Those few units were mostly used for data gathering.

Mobile Suit Gundam - Principality of Zeon
Another amphibious Mobile Suit, and one of my personal all-time favorites. Faster and stronger than the Acguy, this Mobile Suit was the backbone of Zeon's Jaburo invasion force.


MSM-10 Zock
Mobile Suit Gundam - Principality of Zeon
An amphibious Mobile Armor used by the Zeon forces during their invasion of Jaburo. More of a moving gun platform than anything, the Zock has mega particle guns pointing at every angle for maximum effectiveness.
