Part 43: Children of Bahl'al Recap

Previously on Myth III

We escaped the ambush set up by forces of the Watcher.

Someone in the thread nailed it - this level is filler. It's out of place considering the 'Soul of Iron' theme of the Act and there's no Connacht when there should be. It is the last time though, that we get such a basic standard Myth level, meaning go from A to B without heroes, gimmicks, or a special boss-like enemy at the end. The next six levels are all pretty special, and only one of them outright sucks...

I was pretty sure the trigger to end the level was killing the Lyche, but it's actually killing all of the last group of Thrall. I was genuinely surprised when I won.

As far as goons go, I lost Fragrag (Berserk), Triple A (Warrior), SSJ Reeko and Evil Urchin, my two most veteran Dwarves. I hope that doesn't hurt me in future missions.

I typically play through a level a couple of times to get a feel for it, and then turn on invincibility to explore around and see if there's anything neat off the beaten path. Somehow I beat the mission cleanly multiple times without learning the most important lesson involving Dwarves and Forgotten - never click on Forgotten with Dwarves. Forgotten are so fast that the throw ends up being short, and you kill your Dwarves. You need to control-click to attack the ground before Forgotten get close. Thankfully, this lesson is learned for future videos.

BUT WAIT! It's a failure double feature!

[9:04:47 PM] Corbeau says: I don't like that mission anymore

The audio starts off pretty bad, but gets better the more angry Corbeau gets.

My taunting of Corbeau worked beautifully, and he recorded the other path for me. I knew he'd do it since he recorded something for me already that's coming up, also on a level he claimed to really enjoy. I've kind of let Corbeau do things like this, first as bonus content for this thread, but second to get him some practice since he wants to LP Myth 2 at some point, even though he hates Dwarves. I'm not sure how that's going to turn out to be honest.

Twelve Dun Berserks have unique flavor text:

"...when asked what the markings on his body meant, Thorum held aloft his arm and said, 'Strength of Bear'. He pointed to his heart and said 'Anger of Ancestors'. He pointed to his sides and said, 'Breath of Whale'. I asked what 'Breath of Whale' meant and was met with a scowl. 'If the Grey Ship sails without me, I will swim to the battle-land myself'..."

"...the area of the Twelve Duns has been home to many races throughout time, but is now settled by human clans. Settlers made their homes in the forested hills, fleeing the horrors of the Myrkridia. They fell prey to barbaric raiders who traveled by sea and pillaged their coastal towns. When the Myrkridia finally spread into their new homeland, the two groups sought mutual protection, and thus the Twelve Duns were born..."

Entering the Trowlands, Connacht knows that they do not have the manpower to defeat the Trow in a straight up battle. His only hope rests in The SunHammer, and the powerful Callieach magics that reside within.
