Part 40: Soundtrack Discussion 3
Time to go over some notable tracks for Chapter 2. Its hard to choose; there are just so many good ones! Be sure to point it out if I overlook something that belongs on this list.
Cursed Kusa Village Youre not in Kansas anymore! This tune has a mysterious feel, with undertones of unease and stagnation.
Kusa Village The theme for Kusa Village is peaceful and at the same time, unfamiliar. The main melody sounds windy and breezy. Very appropriate for the Villages windmill aesthetic.
The Canine Warriors A majestic tune, suitable for old warriors protecting the land for many years. The behavior of said warriors contrasts hilariously with their theme music, same with Susanos Theme.
The Cutters Theme *shudder* The Cutters. High-octane nightmare fuel here folks! These two give me the jibblies, big time! (But you gotta love it. )
Chuns Theme Such a fun and silly tune! Makes you want to get up and dance to it, doesnt it?
Boss Jambas Theme Another fun tune: lighthearted and bouncy. Just makes you want to get up and do the Hot Spring Hop!
Sparrows Inn Theme for the Sparrow Clans bathhouse, a place made for kicking back and washing all that stress away. A relaxing and slightly silly tune.
Digging Game Another sweet tune! Fast paced, with an air of urgency. You are on a time limit, after all!
Kokari in Trouble Another theme for Kokari, which plays before you help him fish up Whopper. Its a tense tune, with an air of mystery. Kokari sure is growing up fast, isnt he?
Battle with Whopper The music that plays when you help Kokari catch the fish that swallowed the moon (and also his dog!). Its slower-paced than the usual battle themes, with an undercurrent of tension and urgency. Well, that makes sense. Youre fishing to save Umes life (for real this time), after all!
Making Mochi with the Moon God This is a really short one, but its still good. It captures the slow, swinging rhythm of Yumigamis mallet.
Race with Ida This one is one of my favorites in the whole game! I just love it. I never get tired of listening to it, which is a good thing: Ida is tough later in the game! Youll be hearing this tune a lot (over, and over, and over ). Good thing its such a sweet tune!
Boss Battle: Crimson Helm Another great track that gets you pumped to kick some boss butt! This one is very similar to Wakas battle music, just without the flute. Not that Im complaining. Wakas battle music is sweet. Its very different from the Spider Queen battle music, to be sure!
Anger Towards the Gods The theme of Susanos self doubt, as he tries to resist being railroaded by mysterious forces. And we have nothing whatsoever to do with that. No, sir! *cough*
Thats it for now, Okami fans! Ill post more music next chapter.
