What is Persona?
The Persona series is a spin-off of ATLUS main Shin Megami Tensei series. While the series share some minor similarities (especially when you go back closer to when they diverged) they are largely distinct from each other.
What is Persona 3?
Persona 3 was the first of the Persona games on the Playstation 2, and it represented as sharp a break from the prior games in the series as the original Persona was from its forebears. It added a lot of new mechanics and concepts, and some of the concepts of the prior games moved into the background. It was overall a good game, and only got better when a special edtion, Persona 3 FES, was released. This added a lot of content to the main story (retitled The Journey) and a new epilogue to the story, The Answer. It also attempted (with partial success) to deal with some of the problems that plagued the originals gameplay.
What is Persona 3 Portable?
Persona 3 Portable is, as it says on the box, essentially a port of Persona 3 to the PSP. It is, however, quite a bit more than that. It radically improves the game systems of the original, and offers what is essentially a new path through the game in the form of a female main character.
So what are we doing here?
Im going to do my best to show off the fullness of this game, which means Im going to start from Clear Data. This will allow me to much more easily see all the new content without playing in a very strict and game-y fashion. In order to compensate for certain unavoidable issues that using Clear Data causes Ill be playing on Hard.
What about spoilers?
Please dont spoil this or the original, there is always someone who hasnt played any game no matter how popular. There is an LP of the original in the archive, but if you are unfamiliar with the game you should probably just hold off and see how they compare afterwards.
