Shinji has exactly one skill that is not smashing, and that's Evil Smile. The rest of Shinji's existence is dedicated towards making large numbers appear with physical attacks and supporting physical attack-related endeavors. While he's very limited elementally, and without Junpei's fire or Aigis's support, Shinji makes his mark with Power Charge. That means like Mitsuru he is an incredible damage dealer, so great the protagonist is only exceeding it with a charged Vorpal Blade while Great. Shinji hits THAT hard.

Shinji does one thing, and one thing only. But Power Charge is involved with that thing, so it is a very very good thing. If you would like to hand raw damage to the party while the protagonist focuses elsewhere, or just have three charging jerks who blow up the planet every other turn, Shinjiro is going to help with that. Just keep in mind that if he can't hit it with Strike or Slash, he is effectively helpless.
