Part 56: August 11 - August 13: Hell On Wheels
-Runnin' Down A Dream-
> But you feel as if you're starting to get a feel for the place. You'll need to ride around a little more to get better acquainted with the area...
Tired nurse: Uh, which room was it again? The one with the patient Uehara-san mentioned.
Pale nurse: What!? You'd better get going now, or she'll yell at you!
Tired nurse: She's been really scary lately...
Pale nurse: She's been trying too...Ah!
-Who's There?-
Nakata-san, Room 512! Did you finish disimpacting the patient?
Tired nurse: I...I was just about to go...
She fucking walked out in the middle of a disimpaction!? Smack her head off, Sayoko.
I see you're skilled at slacking off. Takahashi-san, the equipment order form wasn't filled out properly. In several places.
Pale nurse: I-I-I'm sorry, I'll fix it right--
I've already fixed it and sent it in! Just go.
I'll be going, then...
> Sayoko looks a bit pale. She also seems to be very tired.
Hang in there.
Right, I can still work.
> Sayoko smiles awkwardly...
Yep...Very nice and clean. I like you because you don't slack off.
> Sayoko praised your work ethic...You feel that Sayoko trusts you.
...Oh, I don't have time to hang around here, either. It's going to be another all-nighter for me...Goodbye.
-Kick-Start My Heart-
> But you feel as if you've gotten a very good feel for the place. If you ride around a little more, you'll be completely familiar with the area...
Weather announcer: The week ended on a wet note as rain clouds moved into the area. As a result, a thick fog is expected to form in the Inaba region later tonight...
> You wonder what happened to Mitsuo Kubo after the police took him away...
-Who's There?-
-Your Affection: Reincarnation-
> You arrived at the beach...What will you do?
This is the most depressing beach I've ever seen, but it has a few new ways to spend an afternoon. You can go fishing:
> You only have a fishing rod good for river fishing...Do you know anyone that might have a fishing rod for sea fishing?
Okay, you can NOT go fishing. You can also go for a swim to raise your Courage...
...or just kind of stare out into space for a few hours.
> You gaze out at the waves that wash in and recede...Something inside of you has changed.
Watching the sea allows your active Persona to learn their next upcoming skill immediately.
> You realize that quite some time has passed...You decide to go home.
These activities all use time, so this is just another NOT CANON peek at what you can do at Shichiri Beach.
-Heartbeat, Heartbreak-
Old man: My! A sea fishing rod, you say? I'm glad you asked...Who knew you'd show that much interest in fishing? It was worth letting you have that rod, I'd say. It so happens I have a sea fishing rod right here, so what do you say we...We...Hmm. I was going to let you have this sea fishing rod, but there's one condition. Sea fishing takes skill. So I want to make sure you're up to it. Try catching the Guardian of this river. I'm sure you can do it. I've got high hopes for you, boy.
(Ask about the Guardian)
Old man: Well, the Guardian of the Samegawa is a big fish, all right. Time was, when someone caught the Guardian, we'd offer it up to the shrine and then share it between everyone. Back in those days, it was an important source of food for the town. Maybe that's why it was called the Guardian...The first time I caught the Guardian of the Samegawa was when I was about your age. I caught it then, and I know you can too.
(Ask about bait for the Guardian)
Old man: Mm, that's a great question. You have to use that...What was it called...? It's a slick, shiny bug. That's the only bait it'll take. Just wish I could recall the name...
(Ask about tips for the Guardian)
Old man: Mm, that's a tough question. Luck is pretty important, but it's true that you'll be luckier on some days than others. Like I said before, the key is fishing on days when the water level rises. You don't need me to spell it out for you, do you...? Ah yes, I remember seeing a fishing guide on sale at the bookstore. I recall it was for advanced anglers. Had some tips on how to really reel 'em in. I'd say you have nothing to lose by picking it up and giving it a once-over.
-Like A Dream Come True-
Boy: Take this, Feather Vacuum!
Yuuta: ...Feather Chop!
Yuuta, no! That's political suicide!
Boy: There's no such move!
Yuuta: Y-Yeah there is! I saw it!
Boy: You're a liar! Yuu-kun lied again! Liar, liar, pants on fire! I'll tell the teacher on you!
> Yuuta is angrily biting his lip...No one came for Yuuta, so you decided to walk him partway home.
-Smile-
> Yuuta is mumbling the move name...
Yuuta: ...I've never seen Phoenix Ranger Featherman R.
You should watch it.
Yuuta: ...She's always watching TV.
Have you asked to watch it?
Yuuta: N-No, I can't. If I do that...She'll hate me.
Apologize to Yuuta, not me.
Oh...Y-You're right.
...I'm sorry for being late.
Yuuta: I don't care.
......
> ...They seem to be growing even more distant.
I-I'll make it up to you. Is there anything you want? I'll buy it for you. Anything at all. Just tell me what it is.
Yuuta: Huh...?
You like to play outside, so how about a soccer ball?
Yuuta: ......
Oh, okay...Y-You don't want one? Ummmm, then how about a samurai sword? When I was young, I used to...
Yuuta: No! I don't want anything! I'm going home.
Haha...Things don't ever seem to go my way...I don't know what a child wants...
The meaningful, not-a-cheap-bribe answer just pisses her off. Eri really is the worst. She'll start to get better soon enough, though.
Oh...I think I saw a commercial for that on TV. It's a children's show, right?
"It is NOT for CHILDREN. Phoenix Ranger Featherman R is an immersive cinematic tour de force filled with moving and important lessons about the magic of friendship, that so happens to be accessible to viewers of all ages, even those who are too young and ignorant to properly appreciate it in its full depth."
I...I think it's on during one of the shows I usually watch...Phoenix Ranger Featherman R, huh...?
> Eri is surprised...
Well then, I'll buy him a Phoenix Ranger Featherman R toy or something...Haha, it's like I'm earning brownie points. Thank you.
> Eri looks enthusiastic.
Then...I'll see you again.
-New Days-
If you're gonna have a celebration, you can't do it halfway.
Celebration?
Ah, it's about this. Watch.
Announcer: "I didn't care who it was." "I was pissed off." "I wanted to be famous." The suspect was often heard saying these things...The young suspect has confessed to being the culprit behind the recent cases, but he's shown no remorse so far. Because of several inconsistencies in the boy's deposition, some have called for a mental examination to be carried out. Until then, the police will be continuing their investigation to shed light on all the prior incidents.
It was actually really tough to make a case out of this. All we had was the suspect's confession and some circumstantial evidence. But the lab found the perp's prints on the victim's clothes, so we made it stick after all. Man, isn't crime scene investigation something? Who would've thought you could get viable prints from cloth?
There's no more scary stuff to worry about. You're safe now.
Uh-huh!
Man, that guy was twisted. A high schooler committing multiple murders and leaving the bodies like that...He was over the edge.
Good thing we caught him! Now I can stop seeing suspects in every shadow!
If the killer was still on the loose...
Enough, Adachi! If you keep running your mouth, the sushi's gonna dry up!
Oh, you're right. Sorry!
C'mon everyone, eat up.
Well, since you asked...
Huh? You don't like sushi, Nanako-chan?
There's wasabi in it...
Ahh, that's right. I forgot to tell them to hold the wasabi. Here, I'll take it off for you. Which one do you want? Hmm?
...Halibut!
Excellent taste, Nanako-chan.
As for me, I'll go for sea urchin...
Hey, there's only one of those!
Too late! First come, first serve.
> It's been a while since dinner has been this lively...
