The one that everyone loves and everyone hates, Charmander is this game's hard mode. It's not very useful to begin with and doesn't learn many good attacks for a while. Also, Fire just isn't that great an attacking type this gen, while Flying does it no favors. But at the same time, these games are easy enough that you can roll with an Ember/Fire Spin/Flamethrower/Fire Blast Charizard no problems. It also has pretty good Attacking and Speed stats, so it's not too bad. But from a mechanical standpoint, it's actually the worst of the three starters, not that that stopped children anywhere.
