Part 30: Mini-Update: Baddy Breakdown 4
So, I went back to see if I could find the aforementioned Hammer and cash in the areas spoken of. However, the Shrine is all collapsed and inaccessible... and wandering around Father's place resulted in nada. However, I did find a hidden Repair in his house I didn't know about before - I took a screen and added it to the appropriate update. For now, though, we've beaten another boss - and that means another primer. Considering the span of time between bosses, it's not as long as the one for the Volcano.
Short time between bosses now, huh? Still, the Sewers are not only winding and confusing, but they're laden with new enemies - most of them either annoying or dangerous. Possibly both. Since this is around you're supposed to start having the gear Pinky has now, the threat of getting scrapped is ramped up a bit. Lets take a look at the threats found below ground.
Shell
HP: 100
Megs: 30.0
Run Resist: Extreme
Drops: 1G, Laser 2, Shot 3, Bomb 3
A massive troll of an enemy. Shells usually guard or dodge any attack you throw at it, or take piddly damage if you do somehow manage to hit them. Even your most powerful equipment is barely going to do half the damage needed to kill it. Add to that they flee as soon as possible, and the most you're probably going to get out of them are a couple points of Bonus Time experience and a capsule with a pity gold. I'm tempted to come back later near the end of the game just to see if a maxed out bot can actually kill them effectively - I doubt it, though.
Angler
HP: 30
Megs: 0.9
Run Resist: None
Drops: Cure, Clean, Repair, Sword 3, Sword 4
This flying fish, as its appearance might hint, takes less damage from our new Sword 4. It's electric, after all, as hinted by their close-range electrical attack - their ranged is a less impressive seaweed assault, but can also inflict Stop. However, it should be noted that other run commands still work just fine on them, and Run commands with Sword 4 counter-intuitively do their normal damage. If you're lucky, they might even drop another one for you, but most likely it'll be a generic consumable. Not that such a drop is a bad thing.
Urchin
HP: 20
Megs: 0.9
Run Resist: Minor
Drops: Clean, Bomb 2, Bomb 3, Bomb 4
These unassuming enemies shouldn't last too long, especially if you're spamming your new Sword 4. Letting them live could result in them pegging your robot with a needle that can inflict Rust, or bombing random parts of the battlefield. They also have some impressive loot they can drop - if you're into Bombs - but, much like the Angler, you're more likely to get a generic Clean more than anything else. Since they die so easily, there should be no real problems dealing with them.
Luckstar
HP: 30
Megs: 1.2
Run Resist: Extreme
Drops: 100G, 120G, 240G, 500G, 1000G, Hammer 2
These starfish magi invisibly stalk the map until you get close, when they phase into view - a step up from the Gels. Unlike Gels, though, they hit hard and take next to no damage from Run commands. Despite how dangerous their main starshower attack is, their other attack consists of summoning a capsule from the sky onto a random part of the field. It's not worth waiting for, though. Best option is to run in and smack them around with your weapon of choice before they eat through too much of your robot's Energy.
Octopus
HP: 60
Megs: 1.5
Run Resist: Major
Drops: 180G, 240G, 250G, 360G, 500G, 1000G, Blow 2
After mousing through the pipes, this enemy becomes one of the more populous enemies in the Sewers, and they're surprisingly dangerous. Their spinning attack knocks your bot back and does damage, but its their ability that's more threatening. They black out the screen with ink and switch places with your robot, often resulting in them being able to get a free back attack. Kill them quick before they can make use of their ink, or hope you have the stats to eat an attack from behind. Otherwise you might be looking at a scrapped robot.
Aqua Cmdr.
Harpoon Gun
HP: 30
Megs: 1.0
Run Resist: None
Drops: 180G, 1000G, Cure
Spear
HP: 30
Megs: 1.0
Run Resist: None
Drops: 150G, 1000G
The Sewers only has two new Hacker types, but they're here nonetheless. They both have the ability to summon friends, but the gun-toting Hacker has a skull-motif bomb it can shoot that inflicts Stop and its Spear-wielding counterpart can tail slap to steal health. Somehow. They also do a lot more damage, befitting their position with these new enemies, so be quick to take them out before they can rack up the damage.
Papamecha
HP: 540
Megs: 30.0
Run Resist: Major
Drops: 3500G, 7500G
Apparently the fake Mayor was actually a fat robot - who knew? Equipped with gatling guns, missiles that hit all rows, and boosters that allow him to jump on your bot to knock them back, he can a bit of a hassle. Using Run commands will do less than normal attacks, so just focus on getting behind him for the extra damage. However, he's programmed to do the same to you, so watch your health. Still, in four or so hits - crits notwithstanding - the fatbot should fall. Surprisingly easy for a boss - especially after Bigeye.
