Part 37: Mini-Update: Finding People on the Internet
Surprisingly, the game is almost over. In fact, after the upcoming plot, there's one dungeon that's visited twice before the final battle and the credits roll. There's a couple more things I want to show that I think people might be interested in knowing - and the following is one of them. The problem is, there's no way to really squeeze it into a normal update.Mostly because it involves the Cyber Jack - and you can't change items or access your menus at all while in cyberspace. So, I'll just present it here as an aside to show off something many folks may not know.
Accessing this little secret is easy enough, have a three step plan:
Step One: Go to Father's House.
Step Two: Go to computer.
Step Three: Cyber Jack
Remember the invisible robot I mentioned back on the snow continent? The one that said he was a programmer before mentioning stuff about Scraps 9 and 10? Well, there's others in the game as well. For some reason, they're all chilling in the computer of Brain's dad. Go figure.
Most of it is just like you'd expect in an old SNES Programmer's Room - like in Chrono Trigger. Just a bunch of characters wandering around saying stuff.
I'm not sure if this is supposed to hint at anything. Accessing an Invention Machine with the Cyber Jack on doesn't do anything... unless it means a specific one I'm unaware of. Most likely he's just saying that coding a room like this takes up a lot less space than what went into the Invention Machine mechanic.
Also, apparently you need to be buff to work at Quintet. Or maybe he's just referring to all the Megs of knowledge crammed into our hero's skull. Mentally buff.
This game also teaches us that a mouse with a robot can do anything.
... I kind of wish there was a sequel to Robotrek. Possibly with more customization and the like - maybe on par with mech building in the Armored Core series? It would still need to have the simple, goofy dialogue and plot though. A bit of a pipe dream, I know, but hey.
Speaking of hopes for the future.
Most of the remaining programmers just have complaints about toothaches and a lack of snacks during work hours.
Ah, the nineties. Anyway, hitting either crystal at the ends of this room just leads back into Father's House. Nothing really to be gained here, much like giving the bot to the old lady, but it's a classic little Easter egg I felt needed showing off.
Check in tomorrow for the return of our regularly scheduled updates.
