Introduction
The Game
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat is the sequel to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl as well as the third and final installment in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. In contrast to Clear Sky, which was largely a huge disappointment to fans of the series for its limited gameplay, repeated areas, lackluster story, and a titanic number of bugs; Call of Pripyat attempted to re-ignite interest in the series by introducing many new elements such as new areas, new damage types, new systems, improving the already existing systems such as equipment upgrades, and introducing a level of optimization and stability that had previously been thought impossible for a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game. As a result, Call of Pripyat was received extremely well by both fans and reviewers, landing it a spot at #38 in PC Gamer's Top100 PC games of all time list.
Call of Pripyat takes place just after the events of Shadow of Chernobyl, following Major Degtyarev (no I did not have a seizure on the keyboard), an ex-STALKER now turned Ukranian Military who is infiltrating the Zone to investigate the crashes of 5 Stingray helicopters. Some of the new features include helmets which can reduce damage taken from weapons or anomalies, new anomaly types, new damage types, and stashes that already have loot placed.

The LP
I am playing the game without any gameplay-altering mods, Call of Pripyat is a strong enough game on its own that it does not need mod support in order to be enjoyable, and I want to show how much GSC Game World was able to improve the game on their own. I will however, be using the atmosfear mod after the first part or two to enhance the game's atmosphere. The game can be fairly short if you simply rush for the end, and so I will be taking on a few side missions in order to extend the gameplay out a little more.

Characters
Major Alexander Degtyarev - An ex-STALKER who joined the Ukranian military. He is undercover, disguised as a STALKER, to investigate the crashes of the 5 Military Stingray helicopters. Shares a very difficult to pronounce last name with a Russian light machine gun.
Beard - Runs the Skadovsk ship. He is also known as an artifact salesman who constantly is on the lookout for people to do the hard work for him. We benefit greatly from it, however, so no need to complain. Beard represents the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s in the area. Looks like a bald Ryan Dunn.
Noah - Local screwball, Noah lives in an abandoned ship with his pet psydog and shoots at anybody who comes to visit.
Zulu - A former member of Duty who lives alone by Yanov Station, training himself for the day that high-interval vodka drinking becomes an Olympic sport. Agrees to join the Major's squad to Pripyat mainly out of boredom. Has issues with the Military as he is ex-Duty (not like the Military has a great reputation with neutral STALKERS as it is).
Vano - A neutral STALKER who is well-liked for his cheerful personality. He can join the Major's squad to Pripyat if his trouble with some Bandits is solved and if he is given money to buy back his old suit. Will join with the Major if asked afterwards because of his personal debt owed to him.
Strider - Ex-Monolith, Strider and his squad were freed from their indoctrination to Monolith after the C-Consciousness was destroyed by Strelok in Shadow of Chernobyl. Can join Duty or Freedom depending on the Major's actions and will follow the Major to Pripyat if asked in order to learn more about the mind control held over members of Monolith.
Sokolov - One of the pilots of the helicopters that went down during Operation Fairway. Goes with the Major to Pripyat in order to meet up at the Military rendezvous.
