The answer to the last one is easy. THE FORMER

Once more, this guy has SENSE. He is a normal human, unlike the previous SMT heroes, he has no Terminal, or STEVEN or anything to control demons, and is not a devil summoner like Hikawa (hms, related to Raidou somehow? Has something similar? Who knows?), is not completely insane like Sidekick or Dumb, and tries to do something that HE KNOWS how to do, get information. And he cooperates with someone that needs information, but has the muscle to survive alone (or almost alone) in the Vortex World.
