Introduction
Welcome to this let's play of Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, a PS2 exclusive action platformer featuring stealth elements. Created by Sucker Punch Productions and released in 2002 to rave reviews, this game brought old fashioned platforming to the table and twisted it into something new, something fun, something cool. The game itself is about a raccoon and his gang (consisting of Bentley the brainy turtle and Murray the muscular hippo-slash-getaway-driver) on a journey to filch, steal, yoink, plunder, bandit, snatch, and five finger discount their way through a variety of locations in order to take revenge upon the Fiendish Five.
CHARACTERS
We play as this fellow, Sly Cooper. Part of a long line of thieves-who-steal-from-other-thieves, Sly underwent a traumatic childhood for on the night that he was to inherit his family's cherished heirloom, the Thievius Racoonus, a book which describes anything and everything on being a master thief, a gang known as the Fiendish Five showed up and took away the family heirloom (a book called the Thievius Raccoonus) as well as killing his parents. Stuck in an orphanage, he met with your typical "brains" of the outfit, Bentley the turtle, as well as your typical "brawn" of any gang, Murray the driver. Save for a few levels, we play largely as Sly Cooper as he traverses various levels and performs dastardly things to dastardly people.
Bentley is the brains of our crime gang, this hacking turtle is capable of many technological feats both amazing and outright science-breaking. He also loves to give us tutorials on everything while freaking out and underestimating Sly's ability to jump and press the circle button.
Murray is...a pink hippo. A musclehead. A driver. You know that guy who never shuts up about automobile-related things? This is him. Unfortunately he's a bit too cowardly in this game to properly show off his skill at beating things up so he tends to stay around the team van for when they need to drive away. He's surprisingly skilled at driving, capable of winning races and driving anywhere across the world by driving, regardless of obstacles such as mountains, valleys, and rivers.
Carmelita is Sly's foil and stalker for the game. Not an outright villain but she's more than willing to knock him out and send him off to the black and white striped hotel. To her, all criminals are equal and Sly was the one that got away so she spends her time seeking him out in the name of justice and Interpol.
