Part 112: Operation Mange Poutine: Opposition Turn 4
My movement this turn was fairly standard, but a sign of interesting things to come.Operation Mange Poutine: Opposition Turn 4
In fact, pretty much all of it is the movement of APCs. The southern Motorised Battalion is staying hidden for now, but has still managed to close within a kilometer of the enemy force. Those Leopard 2s are going to be sprung out once they have a chance to ambush the enemy offensive (assuming one is coming in this direction, which the positioning of Chinese forces heavily imply).
To the North, positioning is far more aggressive. On one hand, I easily stand to lose one or a few Bisons next turn. On the other hand, the Northern Battalion also has boots on the ground already. I expected Urcinius to be barely holding onto the hill by this point, but the defending force has in fact managed to destroy an entire Company of tanks and several other units.
In light of this, should I position the Battalion of infantry on the hill proper, or should I take the offensive and start leapfrogging into enemy territory?
A third group to the west is still forming a salient on the hill just behind the northern force. However, part of me thinks they should be immediately moved to the south to reinforce the far more tenuous situation there, as it looks like a secondary line to the north is absolutely redundant at this point.
Meanwhile, after the success of the first airstrike, a significant number of CF-18 Hornets are called upon to attack the Chinese troop concentration at the center. If these Hornets do as well as the last one, the enemy will be down a large number of vehicles.
Finally, we suffer a few artillery strikes between turns. One of the hills fortified by Greek and Turkish forces takes a light hit. I take the brunt of it, losing a Bison, and having an ADATS unit hit to retreat (I could have gone without that happening).
