Part 132: Soviet Turn 4
Well that was an interesting turn. I had to go through this last one in a rush due to some external issues I won't delve into. Also, I certainly wasn't drunk when I recorded this turn, but it also wouldn't be completely honest to say I was sober... Welp, let's look at the damages, then, I suppose.Soviet Turn 4
Ok, this happened during Coiler's turn though. I really cannot properly convey how much I do not care for these B-10 Recoilless rifle teams. Basically, they cost 9 points apiece, but fire HEAT rounds that have a penetration of 24.
As you might imagine, they are everywhere. I've been swatting them down left and right but there are still a few on the field.
At least I remembered to redirect the Howitzer fire to avoid friendly fire, so I'm quite thankful for that.
The B-10 teams may be annoying, but they're still 9 point infantry units. It's rather easy to keep their heads down with some MG fire. As long as I can take down the two teams here (the other one is hiding in the village to the north), the VPs should be easy to take.
Things are going much smoother in the south. The bunker got taken down by return fire from the directly adjacent tank, and the infantry stationed down there are quickly advancing towards the VPs in the area. I expect some resistance in the woods to the south, but nothing much.
That one northern B-10 is causing well over it's share of trouble, but the infantry squads there should take care of it easily next turn.
So, if the Soviet forces survive the drunken idiocy of this turn, this should be quite winnable (The Soviets have more APCs, right?), but I'm impressed at how closely I managed to recreate the 1994 Assault on Grozny.
I apologise for my lateness and tactical blunders. The lateness was due to things beyond my control, but the blunders were not.
