Part 133: Soviet Turn 5
Soviet Turn 5Well, I feel much, much better about this turn than the last one.
Instead of killing a bunch of vehicles during Coiler's last turn, the B-10 teams just got pinned with retaliatory fire.
In fact, only a single vehicle was lost during the entire enemy turn.
And we get a kill during their turn as well. A MiG-23 strafes and destroys an enemy recon vehicle. This might make it easier to advance on those VPs.
Here's something I didn't expect - the forest is mined. I guess a few troops are going to be lost taking these VPs. Part of me is tempted to just hold on for a few turns here and shell that forest to rubble. A single well placed Albanian infantry unit could cause a LOT of problems in there.
In the center/north the frontline Soviet troops are pinning enemy units while other units position themselves for a push against the buttoned enemy B-10s. It seems to be working, as there are no surprise losses this turn.
The North is probably going to go down next turn (barring abysmal luck with rallying). I'm doing better now that I'm not Groznying the fuck out of all of our troops, so it looks like taking time to manage the situation seems to be working. How the match plays out from here will depend largely on which VPs are guarded by as of yet unseen Albanian troops.
