Part 27: Obong-Ni Ridge: Turn 1

First on the agenda, I guess a few more people seem to be intent on a 1965 match (which in my opinion works out well because we get to see two forces that are quite different form each other). As for the human opponent, I will e-mail Urcinius because he seemed to be pretty enthusiastic about the job. In the meantime, try not to discuss tactics until that gets resolved.

Second of all, I have noticed a crippling slowdown in the topic whenever we are in between matches, which causes a vicious cycle because input is needed to begin a new match. Because of this, I will be posting singleplayer mission updates on every day that there is not a standard goon vs goon match. As soon as the next match begins, I will stop posting mission updates; and afterwards, I will continue where I left off.

Obong-Ni Ridge: Turn 1

In the first singleplayer mission (excluding the tutorial), we will be controlling a group of US Marines defending a ridge from North Koreans. We are both outnumbered and outgunned (at least, on turn one) by the enemy, but we have the advantage of a fixed defensible position while the enemy will be charging us as they get cut down into huge piles of dead things.

Here is a list of all of our units. As you can see, we don't get a lot of our more interesting units until 5-12 turns into the match, so the trickiest part is surviving for that long.

I won't be posting a huge list of all of the units and their stats because, while I want these missions to supplement the main matches, I don't want it to distract from them. All you need to know is, the Marines are equipped mainly with M1 Garands and large amounts of BAR M1918's. They are also equipped with a number of M20 Bazookas that can easily dispatch a T-34. Also, we have jet fighters.

Our forces are mainly concentrated in the same large area, most if not all of them dug in. Our position will be good for the first few turns when the North Koreans just try to charge us head on, but eventually they will try to flank us. The important thing is, we are dug in and we have several defensive firing positions.

On the first turn, the North Korean Sections that pop out take a couple losses each and are slowed down by the heavy fire. They don't even attempt a single attack on us.

By the end of our turn there are 5 sections ready to be picked off by machinegun and sniper fire during our next turn. There are also one or two T-34/85s around the perimeter of the ridge, but they haven't spotted us yet.

If anyone wants to jump into this match, you can participate, but the missions will be more of a way to kill downtime than anything else.

EDIT: Also, because the format of this LP is getting/has gotten kind of confusing, is there some sort of other place I could put information in a more organised sort of manner, like a pbworks page or something? I would appreciate some advice because - as is apparent - I'm new to this sort of thing; thanks in advance.
