Part 38: Obong-Ni Ridge: Turn 13
Obong-Ni Ridge:Turn 13The fact that this infantry platoon is even present in this mission is somewhat bothersome. Over a company of well positioned, fortified marines with artillery, fighter and fire support are basically scripted to get trampled in the first half of this mission, and a couple basic units are supposed to reverse this in turn 15?
(Honestly, I doubt a full company of infantry could save this mission for us, I have attempted it a full three times, and this is the only time it even looked like I could stand a chance)
The Pershings are repositioned closer to the middle as recommended. They keep their faces to the enemy Su-76 just in case it lands a lucky shot.
Another fire mission is ordered up. This time another jet fighter will be joining the fray.
About the only thing that I like about this turn is that there are two new tanks to command. I wonder if they'll even get here before the battle is over.
Despite the fact that our forces are in total disarray. The North Koreans still manage to lose a pair of tanks by driving them directly into the few infantry squads that are still holding ground. How can the AI pull off such baffling feats of incompetence?
Oh, and the jet fighters attacked the enemy, so I guess that's something. They also do a decent amount of damage; I wonder if this means we might win this mission after all!
No... No, it does not mean that*.
*I suppose there is a chance of victory depending on how much of the field we are expected to defend. I can't imagine us holding the ridge for more than 5 turns, but we do have secondary forces that could accomplish more than that.
