Part 47: Obong-Ni Ridge: Turn 22
Obong-Ni Ridge: Turn 22More attacking with heavy weapons. The enemy is having a bit more luck on the northern section than they used to; not that it matters that much, because the northern force isn't going to go anywhere useful in 3 turns.
Regardless, some of our units are being counterattacked now that the enemy force is closing distance.
One of the offending units is a B10 Recoilless Rifle Team; this thing could potentially take out another Pershing, which is not something we want to happen on top of everything else.
Spoiler Alert: It attacks the MMG Section next turn and gets destroyed in a hail of righteous vengance.
Here, a very happy accident occurs. I accidentally tap the left mouse button, which causes this M26 Pershing to charge forward and scare an LMG team into retreat.
Works.
If your units aren't facing them, it's possible for enemy units to sneak up on you.
On the one hand, this means the enemy can close distance without you knowing. On the other hand, it lets you turn around and shoot them in the face at point blank (read: 50 meters) range!
The enemy artillery is much better aimed this turn, so the northern front will probably have great difficulty in the coming turns.
However, our own artillery and jet support falls on the ridge, meaning the North Koreans will be stopped there. Ultimately, it seems that the enemy is going to succeed everywhere, except where it matters most.
Remember, it doesn't matter how badly you're getting beaten; if the enemy doesn't cross the magic line, you win.
Not as good a turn as last turn, but still much better than we were doing before that. I think it will be possible to get one last good kick in before Turn 25 ends.
