Part 66: November Cod Crisis: Canadian Turn 7
Sorry about the wait, assignments and all that. Fortunately, I only have a month left in the semester, so soon there will be nothing preventing me from posting regularly but my barely existent social life.November Cod Crisis: Canadian Turn 7
One of our MAW teams fires at a Rifle Section until it retreats, and because the Scandanavians are set to retreat right into our units, they are promptly beaten into surrender by a Carl Gustav.
Like I mentioned earlier, the troop quality levels of our Canadian Paratroopers are 85 Experience and 85 Morale (I think), which stands in contrast to the 70/70 of the basic Danish infantry. In a head on fight, we will always come out on top, but because our troops are so much more expensive, we should avoid any sort of meat grinder situation.
It happened so quickly and unexpectedly that I don't have an exact screencap, but a stray round killed one of the HQ members and dispersed the unit. Sam's infantry are likely to stay pinned once we pin them from this point onward.
The northern force finally makes contact with the enemy as a Bofors 40mm opens fire on the Company HQ Section. This is why the northern force breaks contact with the enemy soon afterwards. The USMC Patrol Boats pepper the area with suppressive fire, and pin the autocannon gunners.
We had unimaginable luck while firing at the Danish MG teams to the west. A stray rifle round killed 2 people on one of the teams, and another stray round killed an HMG gunner. At the same time, our scout team captured the Infantry Section it was engaging. Sam. is going to be very displeased with this turn of events (considering the west was the one part of the match he was winning).
Nevertheless, I'm still concerned about that Centurion, albeit less so now that it is almost entirely without support.
I am also worried about this group of infantry up here. Our units in the forest may be able to ambush them, but the eastern force also has the option of continuing to the north and striking them.
Here they are, for reference.
Finally, our northern force is now in a position of relevance to the overall battlefield. They can link up with the western force directly and immediately, but striking at the autocannon and/or the Centurion Mk5/2 is also a tempting option.
What are our orders?
