Part 85: Operation Chocolate Spain: Moroccan Turn 1

Operation Chocolate Spain: Moroccan Turn 1

As planned, the Cavalry lead the rest of the force through to the central city, and despite their reconnaissance capacity, they find nothing.

Even though they are testing the waters, I decided to keep them concealed behind at least some defensive terrain, because I don't want to find out just how vulnerable to machinegun fire cavalry are (I would assume very).

Also, I have a plan that involves placing the scouts behind a single layer of covering terrain (ie buildings, forests) so that any Spaniards who attempt to enter that layer get blasted in the face. Does this sound like a good idea?

Other than a bit of playing around with formations, not much happens to the southern force - which is just as well - they are assets that we can't exactly afford to lose.

On the artillery front, there is a crossroads concealed behind a group of buildings, just at the edge of our spotter teams visual range. It's all too perfect a target.

Unless MT is being deliberately counterintuitive, there will be enemies there when the shells hit.

Also, this position is on the opposite side of the central urban area, meaning a barrage there will intercept Spanish forces moving in on our position.

Since apprehension was shown about moving the Mercenaries in large Halftracks when there's the potential of a suprise attack, they are - at least for the time being - relegated to fire support duty.

On that note, we have the central area covered in a close arc from almost every possible angle, while having our troops in relatively concealed positions. Or at least, that's the way my heavily optimistic brain sees things.

I have a feeling this match is going to be a slugging match. We have the potential to secure almost every single VP in the next two turns. Should we do so, or should we hold off on that to further conceal our movement?
