Part 117: Night before the Final Battle
After beating (or losing to) Flynn, a scene triggers upon reentering the town.Converge the generated power onto Vesperia No. 1 through the four spirits and then use it against the the Adephagos.
I was the one to find this method.
Synchronize this device with the barrier blastia placed around the world and then use it to interfere with the surrounding blastia.
???
...So you mean we can transform the blastia core into spirits, right?
That's what I have been telling you.
I knew you could do it Rita!
Our only problem is time.
I'll handle the network. We do have some people from Aspio who can help too.
We'll need a guard too. Better keep an eye on the Monsters and the Adephagos.
We will protect all with our life.
Hey, this is going to work out!
We just need to get close to the Adephagos so that the power of the spirits will reach it for sure, and then activate Vesperia No. 1.
That means we need to get to...
Duke's hideout.
Are we going to fight him?
I don't know. But we can't let him use Tarqaron.
I guess we can't walk around it.
Yeah. We're departing tomorrow. Let's take a good rest today.
In the PS3 version there's a short exchange regarding the broken Vesperia No. 1 in here:
Not yet. We still haven't collected all the parts we need to make the blastia body. I can take care of the necessary calculations, but we'll still need to find compatible parts.
In that case, perhaps it would be best to simply begin anew. At the moment, we've got both manpower and raw materials in abundance.
Indeed... If you can get everything together, it may just be faster than repairing the old one.
Then we have a deal. I'll get some people together, so make sure you give me all the details.
Everyone's giving their all to make a weapon to fight the Adephagos.
Aye, just like they worked together on this town.
This town really is something else.
Alright, resting! Or rather, time for the typical Tales pre final dungeon night before the final battle scenes with the whole party.
Watch the cutscene!
What're you doing, Patty?
Oh, I'm looking for Yuri. Have you seen him?
I think he's in town. He's probably just gone to bed.
And what are you up to, Flynn?
I'm patrolling. This town has no barrier, so we have to make sure it's always being tightly guarded.
Aren't you a commanding officer? What are you doing out on patrol? Is that what it means to be a knight?
A knight's rank has nothing to do with his duties. Unfortunately, defining exactly what it means to be a knight is... somewhat difficult.
Is it?
In that case, don't you think the knights are in pretty good shape now?
They've improved quite a bit. There are still people out there that don't believe that, though.
People sure love to spread nasty rumours.
My, my. You're so young and yet full of worries.
Certainly, there may be no end to my worries. But I'm prepared for that.
Prepared?
But now, after everything that's happened, I know there is no such line.
I'm just going to have to approach every problem I come across individually. I know it'll be tough, but I'm going to face things head-on. That's what I've prepared myself for.
Hm, hm? Hmm...
Patty?
In the past, when I led the pirates as Aifread, I could only act as everyone's boss because I had everyone's support. And when I got my memory back, I don't know what I would have done if I had been alone. But Yuri and everyone else was there for me. It's thanks to them that I can be as cheerful as I am now.
Patty...
You don't need to worry all alone. Yuri's here, and so am I.
Everyone, together... I see. You're right. I get it now, Patty. Thank you.
Aye! I see you've become drunk with my womanly charm.
That's definitely something worth fighting for. Our first step is taking care of the Adephagos.
When you decide to act and make it a reality, those around you will be influenced by your resolve. Then, together, you'll make it happen! That's how the world goes 'round!
What about Yuri?
I'm young! I've got plenty of chances ahead of me. Good night!
Watch the cutscene!
Oh, I was just out talking with Ba'ul and it got late.
Well I was just checking to make sure my calculations were correct.
Hehe.
What?
Oh, nothing.
That's strange. I don't mean anything by it.
If all goes right, all the blastia will stop working. Including hermes blastia.
Right...
You won't have anything to do.
That's all I had. Ba'ul was my only friend. Destroying hermes blastia was my only purpose.
But?
You're just gonna drop it like that?
What are you going to do? You lived for your blastia research.
Th-there's tons of stuff I could study.
I won't. I promise.
Me neither.
That's nice. Hey, take Estelle too. There's still a lot in this world she should see.
Well, if we're going to do that, first we have to protect the world.
Watch the cutscene!
Good work. Sorry for making you work right before the final battle.
Ohhh, such grown-up words from master Karol.
Yeah, I never did stuff just for other people.
I thought that was my dream, but I guess not.
All boys have those dreams. It's fine.
But that was all just so I would look cool. I mean, there's so much you can't do alone.
Yeah, I guess so.
That's not helping people.
I see.
If you work together, you can do a lot more and make a lot more people happy.
...Young master Karol, you are something. So far ahead of this old man. You are cool enough just as you are.
You're cool, too, Raven. Not as cool as Yuri, but...
Oh! I'm hurt!
Heh heh. So what's your dream, Raven?
That sounds pretty hard... But I'm sure you can do it.
Thank you. I think I'll get it.
Hey, is your heart...OK?
I guess that's the effect of the spirits.
I guess this plan isn't all bad.
I'm glad I met you too. Really.
In a big way.
Okay. 'Night.
Yeah. Good night.
Watch the cutscene!
Yeah. I start to think about it, and I can't sleep.
You get that way, too?
You say it like I'm made of iron or something.
...Would you mind if I sat next to you?
It's ironic that we're actually using Alexei's research to fight it.
If they had only been able to think of others...
Yeah. But they made their choices. Nothing we can do about that.
And I won't find out if I made the right choices until the end.
But...that's wonderful. Making a choice is so hard.
To live means to choose... ...and to have the resolve to make those choices.
I always just played the role I was given. I was happy to heal people and be thanked. But then I learned my power was poisoning the world... Someone was always using me...
...What about now?
I...I don't know. But...I feel like I'm here, doing what I am, because it is my choice, my wish.
Me too. I wasn't too sure what would happen when you asked me to take you out of the castle.
I'm sure.
We travelled the whole world, but I never got tired of it. I think it fits me. I think I'll just keep on going around.
And keep helping people in need.
Hah hah hah.
...You're mean.
Hah hah hah.
If anything, the thought that a new world is about to dawn is...
And I'll be able to stay with everyone. With you.
Thanks. I feel the same way.
Okay!
The next day...
Watch the cutscene!
Yes, I did.
Like a log.
The bed was so much more comfortable than when we were here before.
Yeah, the whole town is in really good shape.
A city this nice needs a name.
All right, naming genius. Give it a shot.
You suck!
Now it's got the imperial seal of approval. That settles it.
Yeah. This time it really is the final battle.
Witcher and Sodia already left. They say they'll be in time no matter what.
We're counting on them. We can leave at any time. Right?
Of course.
Woof!
Ba'ul is waiting, too.
Now we just have to fly.
Right!
We have discussed the blastia and spirits and what to do after everything is done. But I think it will take time for some to accept this change.
You're right... Many people will be so lost.
...You're right.
I will start by talking with the people here. They built this wonderful city of Aurnion from nothing but a plain.
Yes, the residents here should accept it.
No way!
Estellise, everyone...take care.
This will affect the empire, the guilds and even the Entelexeia.
They believed in us enough to send us. Let's believe in them.
Yes.
Well, we have our own work to do. Karol. Do your thing.
Right.
The PS3 version changes a few things here. First off, some stuff about Vesperia No. 1:
Got that right. And I'm done over here, too.
With Vesperia No. 1?
What!? Can we really use this?
Its shape and size were just right. And it's made from Rare Metal to boot.
Rare Metal? If I recall, it's a scarce metal known for being particularly hard.
After listening to what everyone had to say, I remembered this sword. I am hopeless with a sword, so if you can find a use for it, I shall be perfectly satisfied.
It feels like an entirely different beast now.
It doesn't look bad as a sword, either.
It doesn't really matter...
Limits Team 2: When entering OVL Lv. 2, all nearby allies will also enter Lv. 2. However, the duration of OVL is half the normal time.
The Vesperia No. 2 comes in two flavors: Once as a key item, and once as a weapon. Not sure why they decided to do it this way and why they have different descriptions, but hey. You get both at the same time right here.
And, of course, we have to somehow get Flynn into the party.
It's almost time.
Yeah. This time it really is the final battle.
Leave the construction of the blastia network to us.
Sodia?!
There's no telling what will be there. They're going to need your help.
But the knights also have an important duty. We need to talk to the people about the blastia.
I know that. We can't do this without the people's cooperation. I'm well aware of what that means.
It'll be all right. I'm here too, you know.
...Understood. But, Sodia, Witcher.
...Yes, sir!
Right!
And there we have it, time for the final dungeon! After some sidequesting, of course. I'm not gonna do everything that's available right now, just some choice stuff, after that we'll go do the final dungeon, and then after we're done with the story we'll come back for the rest. Sounds good?
