Part 130: Seeker, Building Aurnion
Hey there!Today, we're gonna do most of the remaining Aurnion sidequests. But first, a scene you get in Halure once you've done a total of 60 million or so damage in battles.
Yes, it was tailored. Just for you.
But, why...? Why me...?
Well, we thought you were just a kid before, but we can see you really know your stuff.
Well, not really but...
Yes, you're the pride and joy of Aspio.
R..really...?
What is this? It's not like you to get all emotional.
...
Well, there you go. Good luck.
Wow...
Huh, umm...
Really? You think so...?
Those robes are the sign of a true researcher.
More than that, they're a sign of an accomplished researcher.
That's perfect for you, Rita!
That's the spirit, right?
You can study and study, and there'll always be something left to learn in the world of magic... There are so many mysteries. Like an onion, peeling off one layer just reveals another...
So, you're going to keep those clothes?
Yeah, with pleasure. It makes me stand tall and proud when I'm wearing them. I don't know what it is...He he he... It makes me feel like I can churn out idea after idea with this...
G-good luck, Rita...
...I think I've begun to understand why everyone calls Rita a weirdo...
It's a good costume, I like it. It fits her.
Anyway, Aurnion! First, a sidequest I've been ignoring for a while because it requires Estelle to heal a ton (4 mill, according to a guide) of HP in battles, which takes a while if you're not using Estelle as your healer all the time.
For this, we need to head over to Aurnion's inn and go inside.
You helped us out back in Capua Nor.
That was back when Estelle had been captured by Alexei.
...You can use healing artes?
Huh...? You can tell?
All healers have a characteristic mark on their left thumb, from which their artes are released when they're used.
There's a little dark spot... You could tell from just this...?
Doctors have to be observant. Plus, I'm a practitioner of healing artes as well.
Grandma suddenly started feeling ill...
It's too late, Doc! I'm not long for this world...
Hold on. A healer can't let herself get flustered when there are sick people to help. Ma'am, could you tell me what sort of discomfort you're having, and where it hurts?
My side hurts, like it's being squeezed real tight... And my fingers feel all stiff...
Hmmm... Well, let's have a look...
I feel all better! Thank you, Doctor!
Oh, you don't need to thank me. This is my job.
You were using your healing artes precisely, only on the parts of her body that needed it. That takes some skill.
It can actually be harmful to focus one's healing artes on healthy parts of the body.
R-really?
If a healer works too hastily, she can cause her patient undue stress, and worsen their conditions. A healer must always be calm and focused.
I, I see..Please excuse my ignorance.
No, not at all! You're still learning. The path to becoming a healer is a tough one, to say the least. Please, come and visit again. There is much I'd like to teach you.
No... But even so... The only thing I've ever been good at doing for others is healing their wounds...
I'd like to learn more about what a healer does.
I'd say you've done a lot more for us than just heal our wounds.
Huh?
Nah, forget it. Anyway, I don't think there's anything wrong with learning more about healing and seeing where it takes you.
Yes.
We do this a couple times, reloading Aurnion between each scene.
Oh, how are you? ...It looks like you're just fine.
You can tell...?
Sure, I can tell from looking at your face.
Urgh... Doctor...
Oops, I was working!
Is that a patient of yours?
Yes, it appears he has some sort of heart disease. Hold on, friend. I'll help take away the pain.
It doesn't look like it's working...
...Ah... It doesn't hurt anymore...
...Good!
Hmmm!
Thank you, Doctor...
Y-yes, of course... Well, stay here a bit to get your energy back before you head out again.
What? I do...? I don't think...
No, seriously, being able to wield that level of healing artes is no small feat. Technically speaking, your skills are a little rough around the edges, but you're a born healer. I can't wait to see how you'll turn out with a bit more training.
Yes...
You mean because you don't actually want to become a healer?
Yes...
It doesn't seem so bad ta me. The hospital's hurtin' for help, and yer just givin' them a hand. I'm sure they appreciate it. And ya can't help it if they want ya ta be someone yer not.
Maybe you're right...
Reload town, approach inn...
D-doctor... Y-you mean me...?
Yes, of course. You treated me in the hospital the other day. You're not usually working in the hospital though, are you?
N-no... I'm usually out traveling... But you know, I'm not really a Doc--
Oh, I didn't think she'd be this young. Maybe I'll go and pay you a visit sometime soon. My shoulder's been hurting me a bit lately, y'see.
Ummm... But I'm not...
Yeah, it's her! Thanks to this miracle worker, I'm the very picture of health!
I see! Keep up the good work, Doctor!
R-right...
Thanks again, Doctor!
If I feel sick, I'll be sure to come and see you!
I... But... You see...
Maybe you should start collecting magazines to put in your waiting room?
This is a bit of a pickle...
And once more.
I put on the Mint's Cap attachment to fit the situation, which kinda backfired on me near the end of the scene.
Something must have happened...
Are these people injured?
...Let me help you...!
I'm going to go inside and see what's happened.
What happened?!
There was a landslide. They were bringing down building materials for town...
It looks like you're short on help. Can we lend a hand?
That would be great. We're running low on water...would you mind going and bringing some from the watering hole?
Hey old man, Karol, did you hear that?
The Imperial Knights have gone out to rescue them, but I'm sure they're short on hands. If you could somehow help them...
Judy, take Ba'ul.
Woof!
Okay, you go too, Repede.
Go get the materials in the Imperial Knights' facility and take them to the shop to synthesize into medicine.
Gotcha. Let's go, Rita.
Almost everyone here's been healed, too. But there are more people on the way. For now, take care of those people.
Okay...!
...
Everyone outside wasn't wounded too badly, so we sent them home after they were healed.
I'm so glad no one was hurt too badly.
You've gotten quite good at the motions and techniques involved in healing. I'd say you're well on your way to becoming a fine healer!
U-ummm... About that...
Eh? What is it, young lady?
I see...
I think that healing others like a doctor does is an amazing thing to do. I really do. But my dreams lie somewhere else...
I see, I see... It appears I jumped to conclusions. I'm the one who should be sorry.
Not at all... It was my fault for not telling you sooner... I'm so sorry.
No, no. Don't worry about it. Besides, whatever you want to be eventually, you already make a remarkable co-medical.
A...co-medical?
It's someone who's neither a doctor nor a healer, but who helps doctors to treat the injured and the sick in a number of ways. Allow me to give you this, as a testament to your abilities.
You possess the special gift of healing, young lady. If you come across someone who is in pain, you must use this gift to help them, however you can. Even if you're not officially a healer, healing the pain of others is one of the finest things you can do in this world.
Yes, it is!
Good luck in pursuing those dreams of yours.
Thank you.
Phew. This gives us another costume.
With this done, we can finally go do a pretty annoying fetch quest. To do this, we talk to a knight next to the Aurnion HQ.
Eh? Who're you again?
Ha ha ha. You haven't changed a bit, Yuri! It's me, man! We were in the Imperial Knights together! I'm Agueron...remember?
Agueron? Ahh, yeah, I sort of remember. You were the one who always stole food, right?
That was somebody else... Well, not that it matters, really. It sounds like you've been doing pretty well since you got out. Me, I'm gonna keep working my butt off to help Flynn build this new city!
Hey, that's great! Flynn could really use your help, I'm sure.
People are expecting so much from Flynn right now. I'm going to help him as much as I can from behind the scenes.
Thanks for that. Well, if there's anything you need, just let me know. I'll do what I can to help.
Well, actually... The town's come a long way, and now it seems like people have stopped caring about its development so much... Up until now everyone was solid...we were all working together. But the people in town started to lose their enthusiasm.
Well, I'd say that's a pretty natural way for people to feel.
Yeah... I mean, people want to relax, I'm sure. But some people have started throwing all of their work onto Flynn...even little and manual labor around town.
So what are you getting at?
I want...to help the town remember the original spirit of industry that drove them to build their homes here in the first place. I was thinking that maybe...if they could feel some sense of accomplishment, maybe it could bring the town together again.
...So what are you saying should be done, exactly?
If we could get some more materials, I think we might be able to improve the town even more.
Well, we do have Ba'ul, after all...
Please...help our town grow!
I guess I've got no choice. I assume you don't want me to mention this to Flynn?
Yeah... He has far more important things to focus on right now.
Sounds good. That way he can keep his mind on what he needs to do.
Thank you. There's nothing like a fellow knight to come through in a pinch! All right, then, could you bring me three of each of the following? Desier Gold Dust, Hypionia Tree Bark, and Yurzo Fruit.
Desier Gold Dust, Hypionia Tree Bark, and Yurzo Fruit...three of each. Gotcha. I'll be back.
Random enemy drops, yay. It doesn't take too long if you know where to search, and most of these can be also found from search points, and if you haven't been ignoring enemies on the world map you might even have most of these, but still, this is the most boring sidequest type you can do. Especially since it doesn't end here!
This should be everything, right?
Wow, I knew you wouldn't let me down. Thanks, man.
So, what's next?
You catch on quick. This is what I'd like you to bring me next.
That's a lot to ask.
Yeah, sorry about that.
Nah, don't worry about it. I'll go and get them and bring them here.
Thanks so much.
Fetch the items, return.
Sorry to keep you waiting. This should do, right?
Yep, it's exactly what I need. It must've been tough getting it all.
Nah, it wasn't so bad.
Heh, yeah...I'll bet it was a cinch for someone like you, Yuri.
Hey now, hold on here. Are you trying to butter me up so you can ask for something really hard to get?
I can't fool you, Yuri. Come on...join the Knights again. Flynn could use your help.
I've got my own work to do. Besides, I'm helping enough as it is, aren't I?
Well, I guess that's more your style, anyway.
So, what's next?
This next one is the last request I'll make of you. With this, we should have everything we need.
And...what? Come on, spit it out.
It's...hard to say. I don't feel right asking you for this...
So it's Gald, then? Just say it like it is. You're still as hesitant as ever, I see.
And you're as perceptive as ever. You're right. It's Gald.
So how much you need?
Err... About 500,000 Gald. With that, we'll be able to have any remaining resources we need shipped in.
Okay. So that's a Greenlight Stone, a Pitch-black Ink, a Rare Metal, and 500,000 Gald.
I know it's a lot, but...I'm counting on you, Yuri. I promise this is the last time.
Gotcha. Be patient, okay?
Without a guide this might take a while! The Greenlight Stone is outside of Nordopolica at night from some fireflies, the Pitch-black Ink is from an octopus on a beach-only island near Egothor and Baction at night, and Rare Metal drops from the Giganto monster in Zaude.
And, y'know, Gald. We have enough of that thanks to Poker.
This should be everything...
Yes, it is... I'm so sorry for putting you to all that trouble.
Aww, stop it. You did what you could, Agueron. It was just our turn to do the same.
Yeah, you're right. Yuri, you're a really good guy.
Come on, cut me some slack! Enough with the jokes, man.
Heh, seems like you still can't take a compliment after all these years. But really, thank you. I don't know what would've happened without your help.
Yes. I'm going to use everything you gave me to help bring everyone together again.
All right, good luck with that. I'll hope for the best.
Yeah, come back in a while to see our progress!
Exit Aurnion and reenter, and...
Whoa!
Wow... Everything's totally different!
The town's gotten so beautiful!
I'm glad we helped 'em out.
The townspeople seem to have a little more of a twinkle in their eyes now, don't you think?
Yep, because they overcame all the odds and completed their town!
They must feel a great sense of accomplishment.
It's really impressive! The town's really come into its own now.
And it's all thanks to you and your friends, Yuri.
Please, please...it's all in a day's work for ol' Raven.
Did you even do anything remotely useful at all?
Hey, Flynn. It looks like you've been busy here.
Well isn't that the pot calling the kettle black!
I'm sorry, Yuri. I thought he might find out.
Hey, it's not like I was trying to keep it a secret or anything.
It seems like every time I need some help, you're there to lend a hand, Yuri.
It's not just me. We all helped.
Yes, good point. Speaking on behalf of our town, I'd like to thank all of you from the bottoms of our hearts.
Flynn, don't worry about it. You did what you could. It was just our turn to do the same.
You got that line from Yuri, didn't you?
Nah, I don't want it.
Come on, why not? Presents are what's formed when someone's pure emotions take shape.
She's right, kid. Just take it.
I'm not sure if it'll come in handy or not, but please, use it if you'd like.
It'll definitely come in handy. Isn't that right, Yuri?
Mmm, yeah, it will. I'll be sure to put it to good use.
Good job accepting something graciously for a change, Yuri!
The accessory we got is a Katamari Damacy reference.
Let's take a look around town!
There's a few new things that open up here now that Aurnion is fully built, such as the final part of the Warehouse sidequest:
When it comes to tidying warehouses, no one compares to Brave Vesperia, THAT, Brave Vesperia, right?
Oh, so that's what we're being known for. Sorry, Karol. It seems like we're known as the warehouse cleaning guild these days...
Huh? That's not what I was aiming for...
Ha ha ha. Don't worry. It's true that you've established quite a name for yourself in our industry, but you're known for being an all-around, handy man type of guild.
Handy man... Umm...I guess that's who we are.
While we're on the topic, do you think you can help tidy up my warehouse again?
Hmm...
Sure thing! Leave it to us!
And that, I shall do! I'm counting on you!
This warehouse is a joke. By far the easiest, I don't get why it's the last one.
The items you get from this are nothing special, just some Special Gels, a Mysterious Piece, and a Spring of Wisdom. The latter two are synthesis items.
Here's your money, as promised.
Hmm...I wonder if we'll just be known as the warehouse cleaning guild after this... If that happens, we're just going to keep getting jobs cleaning warehouses...
Don't sweat it. We're just known as the go-to-guys in the warehouse biz. It's not like warehouses suddenly equals Brave Vesperia now...I think...
Y-yeah...I guess you're right.
Did you know what that boss of yours is known as in our industry?
??
You're renowned for being a warehouse expert, ya see. Isn't that something to be proud of?
W-warehouse master...
Hey, good for ya, kid. Warehouse Master Karol! Yer like some sort of celebrity!
Congratulations. Warehouse Master Karol.
Warehouse Master Karol... It's got a nice ring to it.
Hey, it was just a joke... He-y, you listening?
It sounds stupid, if you ask me...
This, somehow, gives you a costume for Karol:
Skit: A Town Grows Ever Stronger / Baldurdash
This town has grown into quite a wonderful place.
Sure has. I can't believe it's a real city now.
*WOOF!*
All the refugees look happy, too. Even with all the danger left in our world.
They're strong. They've figured out complaining doesn't get anything done.
And that's not a bad thing to figure out.
*Woof*
Yes, I agree.
We can also find Ioder just standing around, in the bottom-left of the town.
Is this about the orphanage in Torim harbor?
Yes...did you happen to hear it from my master...?
Indeed...he visited not long ago, and we spoke of it. After some further investigation, I've received reports that disasters have made orphans of children in several other cities. We've discussed the problem, and it's been decided that a portion of the salaries of Council members and Imperial Knights will be given to those cities as relief money for the orphans. This includes the orphanage in Torim harbor, of course.
Have all of the Council and the Imperial Knights agreed to that?
Only the Council members and the knights who've voiced their assent will be required to give part of their salaries to the fund.
The Council and the Imperial Knights are in heated competition with each other, too.
This kid is shrewder than he looks!
That was never my intention, though it may seem that way to some. Come to think of it, Estellise, there's something that I wanted to give you.
Something for me...?
The proof of vice-emperorship...? What's a vice-emperor?
The vice-emperor serves as the empire's second-in-command, and has a level of authority very close to that of the emperor himself. The Blue Crystal Rod is an honored treasure of the Imperial family, though Dein Nomos is more so. But the vice-emperor is only a temporary position, and isn't actually an official appointment...
In a time like this, we could really use someone else to help support the empire. I need your help, Estellise. Will you grant me this favor?
...No, I don't have to... I want to.
Yes, I understand. You wouldn't be confined to the imperial throne, but rather, you could travel to places all over around the world, and help me by advising me of what you see.
...I don't see any reason not to do it.
I'm not sure what it would involve, but if you can keep travelling together with us, it sounds good...I think?
Then...I'd be glad to help!
Thank you very much.
Survive: Cannot be KO'ed by any attacks while guarding. HP will always be at least 1 while guarding.
The Blue Crystal Rod is evil's bane. May it serve you well in your journey.
Skit: An Unforgettable Journey
The imperial family and the guilds... Estelle's standing with both of them is gonna change.
I don't know what'll happen in the future. If Estelle doesn't change that much...
I doubt I'll change as long as I keep the memories I have right now.
But I'd like to continue this journey with you until the end...
Don't worry--I can just sneak you out of the castle again, like I did when we first met!
Yeah, and this time I'll tag along and help with the lockpicking!
Thank you, both of you.
But crime is a very bad thing!
Then we'll have to go in through the front like decent visitors, won't we, Yuri?
The front door really isn't my style. ...Man, do we really have to do that?
Yes, please do!
Up until a few days ago, I thought this was it, but then I randomly ran across another scene while editing PS3 sidequests.
If you equip the Certified Solider costume and reload Aurnion, Flynn appears.
What...?!
No... I was just thinking how poorly that knight's armor suits you.
Like I care what you think.
No, I mean... I'm starting to think you quit the Knights just because of how ridiculous you look in armor.
And yet you seem to be pretty happy to wear the armor around right now.
I just decided to wear it on a whim.
So are you going to join the Knights again?
Why should I?
Oh? You can't do that on a whim too?
There's not even a one in a million chance of me ever having that sort of whim.
Oh? Too bad.
It's not "too bad" at all!
Oh yeah?
Yeah, it's not... Anyway, I'm going.
I've never seen this scene mentioned in any guide, so I guess I found a previously unknown scene here? You get nothing from this so it's just flavor, but still, kinda neat!
