Part 31: This City is a Metaphor
Technically we've arrived in Melenam. Since, you know, you're here with me. Let's check out the place before it explodes!
The city is full of scientists and the robots who love them. It's pretty hardcore, but beneath the surface lurks hubris!
"Unless it goes berserk and destroys our entire civilization, but what are the chances of that?"
I think this is the guy who gives Lux a massive stat upgrade, equivalent to 4 or 5 levels (well, 4 or 5 levels in the English version). That'd be nice if I were Lux, which I'm not. Did I mention Lux can buy equipment upgrades here? Yeah. But Wilme still has one trick up his sleeve, which I'll get to in an update or two.
"Unless our hubris should somehow doom us all, but I doubt that's going to happen."
You have to admire their courage, really. Of course this being a metaphor town it's doomed to horrific failure but at least they tried, unlike every other town in this game.
Possibly deadly weapons that will destroy Melenam, I'm just guessing!
"And for being full of gigantic assholes."
"And for being doomed in about 20 minutes."
Here's the outside of Melenam. Not exactly the metropolis you were expecting, was it? We'll be back out here.
Meanwhile, down the stairs...
Uh-oh. This looks familiar.
"Someone suggested making one that kills things, but others aren't sure whether a weapon should do that."
"Then, in another moment of weakness, I think about how awesome it would be if GORSIA blew it up."
"Unless the city is destroyed by the hubris of the scientists, that might ruin my wedding plans."
What lies beyond this door? Could it be a supercomputer that runs on pure evil and shoots ghosts out of its processor?
