Part 34: Chapter 2 [Camille] (3)

You might notice the mission objective - not to defeat all enemies or to defeat Heugoe, but protect Natalia.

Natalia stands immobilized in the center of the map. She'll end up doing battle with the Lancer right near her, and while she can last a while, she'll ultimately lose out. If you manage to keep her alive long enough the Sorcerer will probably join in too, but chances are it won't come to that.

Heugoe waits in the back, near Natalia. He resists both Ice and Lightning, which hurts both Lockswell and Cheripha (the Crescent Bow is Lightning-elemental). He'll be idle till we approach him.

The split structure of the map and enemies on each side can make traveling difficult. Cheripha snipes the Lancer right near our starting position to start us off.

Aw shucks guys, you know this was coming. I mean, we're up against Heugoe, we're going to need a bit of oomph.

Meanwhile, Earnest and Wylfred help Cheripha knock out the Lancer.

Lockswell takes the right side of the map. Because there are enemies on both sides, if you want to maximize experience/Sin you have to take time to travel around and clear both sides of the map, which means loss of time. Luckily the map lasts till you defeat all enemies, so you're not in a big rush once the Lancer near Natalia is taken out.

Natalia and the Lancer trade blows. As you can see, the Lancer will win out over time unless Natalia manages to avoid an attack or gets a critical. There are two ways to keep her from dying before we reach her (unless you want to Dash everyone over and ignore all the enemies, which is a bad idea since it leaves a trail of enemies running after you); paralyze the Lancer with Gleipnir's Bonds, or heal her.

The rest of the party takes the left side. Earnest lacking Dash really hurts him, but at least he can still do some decent combos with Cheripha.

More killing and such.

Why do enemies drop these? Is there ever a time where we'd need elemental protecting items, and even then, why not give us Talismans instead? Wards are just crap.

While we continue murdering our way over, Lockswell Heals Natalia. Since Heal doesn't have a height penalty (you can't heal her with Potions without going all the way around), if you sacrificed Lockswell before this battle you're in a bit of trouble. Then again, you can sacrifice Cheripha instead, or if you've already done so, use Gleipnir's Bonds.

Lockswell finds Heugoe and targets him for death.
Assuming you're doing the battle fairly, Heugoe is both tougher and easier than Darius. While his improved range means that Earnest can't attack him safely, and Heugoe does more damage anyway and resists Cheripha's attacks, both Wylfred and Lockswell should have gotten a big offense boost from the last map, assuming you got 200% Sin.

Oh yeah we also kill the poor helpless Silenced Sorceress.

Way to be stingy on the experience Heugoe.

As well as giving us a lousy drop.

The Lancer hammering on Natalia is the only one left, so Lockswell finishes him with a menu spell.

Rune Crown and Expert's Experiences are useful, the rest are kind of eh.

Also Lockswell dies. An unfortunate but necessary loss.

After losing her lover to the Great Famine, Natalia decided to take up arms and lead the serfs in rebellion against the despotic regime that left them to starve. Aided by Villnore, she was able to turn an angry mod of untrained farmers into a formidable insurgency.
Behind her fiery temper and stoicism lie deep-seated feelings of self-loathing and regret over abandoning her children.
