Part 51: B Ending (2)
On your behalf I pleaded, my son, that the valkyrie take mercy on your soul, and give you life once more.
Flaashback! (Go back to the second update if you want.)
---
I bow before your eminent grace and mercy, Lady Valkyrie.
---
Yet here have I watched as revenge consumed you. No greater pain can a father know than to watch his child's torment.
If only I understood your suffering...
But still there is hope, my son. Cast down your arms before it is too late, and find happiness in life.
If you'll not heed a father's words, then you will know an einherjar's wrath!
For your sake I fought, now you turn against me? My own father!?
Somewhere in Valhalla, Cheripha is laughing, I swear.

Back to Sacred Javelin.
This is the same track that plays during the Freya battle in the D ending, if you were wondering.
Well, here we go. There are only four Einherjar accompanying Thyodor - two Archers, two Sorceresses. You can take them out easily before handling Thyodor himself.
Thyodor waits in the back. He has high ATK and considerable defenses, and also knows Body of Steel and Diminish Missile. While he's classified as a Warrior, he has the movement of a Swordsman. Unlike Valkyrie, Thyodor has no Holy protection or affinity, so it's harder to reduce his damage or capitalize on a weakness.
The first thing to do is to take out the Archers. They're harmless enough with Diminish Missile but we don't want them to become a nuisance later on.
Or they could do this.
I removed Valmur's Crystal Call in lieu of First Aid - it's unlikely you'll get enough experience in this battle to be worth it.
The second Archer drops one of these. Don't think I'll use them though, I'm swimming in Union Plumes.
Thyodor might look close to the Sorceresses but you can still easily bait them out and kill them. They use Lightning Bolt again.
Second one goes down and Phiona scores the last level up for this route.
Thyodor is a harder fight than Valkyrie, we'll get to that in a sec.
He has generally slightly better stats than she does, save for a little lower HIT. Thydor is technically susceptible to Freeze and Paralysis, but he has a 70% resistance to both, and since Frigid Damsel and Lightning Bolt only induce those effects 10% of the time, you'll almost never land one of those statuses on him. Consider it a minor blessing if you do, though.
And here we'll see why Thyodor's an Einherjar.
Thyodor has an attack chain that would make Darius envious, easily scoring gems - I've had him do over 40 hits on one character. He has a good shot of killing any character from full health unless they have very good armor and maybe even a Guard Reinforce.
Sap Power is much more beneficial though than Guard Reinforcing four characters.
We actually don't have many Plume skills suited for boss fighting - Cheripha's Bonds doesn't work on leaders, Vidar's Hush is useless on non-Sorcerers. We might as well try this.
You'll want to chip Thyodor down with as many ranged characters as possible. Archers don't contribute much, but they can help Sorcerers and Lancers get in extra attacks.
Since Wylfred is forced you can't really do a four-way attack without him doing a retaliation (unless you Faze him). With good armour from the Sin rewards, Wylfred actually takes the damage quite well, especially if you Sap Power Thyodor first.
Thyodor Soul Crush
Aw nuts, and I thought she was actually about to live.
Okay, so she wasn't, he just had extra attacks left over.
With 99 Union Plumes, this isn't really a difficult fight - you can revive as many times as you need to and Thyodor can't kill four characters unless you initiate more than one attack on him. Don't rely on Plume skills like Hoenir's Arc though, since they disappear when a character dies.
Thyodor's Body of Steel can be very annoying, but you should hopefully have Fists of Iron on everybody, and it doesn't protect him against Enlightenment boosted Sorcerers. You can also use Defiance, as Thyodor's attacks can't be blocked anyway.
Close, but not quite.
My work is not yet done.
Thyodor, acting on Rosea's Murder Fantasies since 2008.
I think he loves Overkilling as much as we do.
Let's end this one.
Forgive me... beloved.
Next time: goodbyes.
