(now with in-mission cutscenes! Planets rendered uninhabitable during the course of this thread: 2 (with 2 more offscreen and 2 as a possibility as a result of a failed mission). Loki VI is the first one to actually get destroyed, though Earth (if you fail the relevant missions), Warsaw, Gilead (offscreen) and Sirius (in Standoff) and Locanda IV (in WC3) have all ceased to support life at one point or another.
The recoil on the Behemoth's superlaser is probably physically implausible, but it's too late to do physics at the moment, so me running some numbers on it will have to wait for the morning. Or for someone else to beat me to it.
Kills this mission: 8 - I've got 9/12 on a couple of runs and think you could probably get 10 with a bit of luck, but I just had to use this run due to the pair of Strakhas randomly exploding for no obvious reason right in front of me. Besides, if I was going for max kills I'd just have sent Hobbes home, it's not as if I need a wingman on Rookie. The exploding stealths happen quite often on this mission - about half the time I saw four Strakhas, killed two and then the bombers arrived, which was a bit confusing so it's nice to have an explanation. Well, not really an explanation as such since I don't know why they explode, but at least I know what happens now.
Ship of the day:
Is still on hiatus. Though presumably not for much longer, as you've got to think the cats will be pulling out all the stops once the Behemoth gets to Kilrah, right?
Total kills (Wing Commander III): 23 missions / 218 kills
Total kills (this thread): 49 missions / 584 kills
Total kills (including previous thread): 159 missions / 1501 kills
Next time on Let's Play Wing Commander:
On to Kilrah!
