OK, I was digging around in my closet looking for my Wing Commander books (which I found), and I came across something even better for this thread.

The official Wing Commander Prophecy strategy guide.

Edit: You know, I never noticed that one of the alien missiles is the Proteus missile. I love this game even more now.
