Part 579: Nergal Reactor - Turn 1
Nergal Reactor: Tactical Update 1Glad you guys could make it. Pull up a chair!
Alec! Its good to see you again! Jason replied cordially, meaning every word. Are you our liaison again this mission?
Not quite, a second voice broke into the line. From the background noise it was clear the interloper was in the same room with Alec. You Demon Hawks rate a little too highly to be nursemaided by a mere lieutenant. Im Major Karagan, Lieutenant Delwyns serving as my aide. Id say Im his guy in back for this op, but since every liaison you work with gets their `Mech crippled or destroyed well actually be monitoring this fight from the reactors primary control room. So yes, were on site, and no, we wouldnt be if we thought you were going to failbut if you do were both probably dead. So no pressure.
Well keep that in mind, Jason drawled, unable to resist rolling his eyes. It was a mistake, his machines reactor monitor leapt to the forefront of his HUD as the Pilot Pal light power armor suit tracked the movement of his pupils and mistakenly thought he was looking for raw data from the Screamers reactor. He shut his eyes, then flicked his gaze down to the bottom left to close the display. There was a lot to remember, not just where to look but how to go about looking to get the streamlined displays to pull up the data he wanted. Still, the suit had proven worthwhile alreadyanchored so securely in the Screamers cockpit he was nearly a part of the `Mech itself. The machines tooth-grinding, bone-crushing accelerations were barely noticeable anymore.
Hurry, the Major requested. Our orbital satellites show a Clan force of indeterminate make inbound from the north. Theyre playing things a bit shy, which is why they havent overrun the reactor already. Theyre probably trying to make sure youre actually here but even with the delays I dont think theyll be more than a minute or two behind you, Karragan paused for a brief moment.
And not to tell you your business, but youll also want to have your Wild Weasel deploy some sensors at a few key points in advance to keep the Clanners from using the waterways to approach unseen. I doubt youll have time to deploy more than a handful once the battle starts.

House Rule: Flooding Sucks An armor breach underwater no longer destroys hit locations outright. A section that floods instead suffers damage to all weapons in that location, knocking them offline. All ammunition or special equipment in a flooded section is likewise rendered useless. Head armor breaches are treated as normal.
