Konpei Island Update 5The markers Captain Maja Jagoda had made to estimate enemy `Mech positions inched closer and closer, though the bulk of them remained hidden by factory buildings and some of the untold miles of metallic pipelines that littered Konpei Island. They were being enveloped, the way an amoeba might consume paramecium. A trickle of nervous sweat dripped down the back of her neck, cooling instantly as it came in contact with her bulbous cooling vest.
Im starting to feel a little pressured here, she muttered under her breath. Shed gotten isolated from Tai-sho Kurita and Tai-i Himura, even though the space between them was scarcely a hundred and twenty meters, it may as well have been ten kilometers with all the firepower the Clans could riddle her JagerMech with if she made so much as a single misstep.
Calm, Captain. Isoroku sounded sleepy. Not tired, exactly, and certainly not weary. Just peaceful, as though he were content with their current desperate situation. His wasnt the fierce yelling or the deep baritone she usually associated with command, he was analytical in a way shed never have expected from a Drac.

Ryokai, Maja managed, absently hoping shed only slightly butchered the pronunciation. Shed heard that particular word often enough. Just like hunting Crana swarms back home. Pick a target and shoot.
She exhaled, and dropped her crosshairs over another of the Clans deadly hovertanks. They were swift over flat ground, but the factorys pipe junctions seemed to be giving them fits and the drivers were taking things slowly. Either that, or they were under orders not to outpace the BattleMech forces and hog all the glory. Tanks werent always easy targets but they were certainly juicy ones. Maja depressed the firing stud with her thumb and was rewarded as her first shell struck sparks from the hovertanks front armor. An instant later the machine rocked as another shell punched through the turrets casemate armor. There was a momentary flash as her lucky hit struck the vehicles auto-loader and detonated the missiles in the feed. The tanks turret lifted a meter and a half into the air as the blast sheered it away, and after a moment the hover settled to the ground still and dead as its crew.
