Introduction

In 1999, a little developer called Neversoft had a game published by a little company called Activision. That game was Tony Hawk's Pro Skater - An arcade-style skateboarding game featuring one of the biggest names of the sport (Well, several, actually). It proved to be very well received, and has not only spawned almost a dozen sequels and a handful of spinoffs, but helped bring skateboarding into the mainstream.

This is a quick playthrough of the N64 port of the first game, showing off all the levels and goals in the game. Done by Edge of Reality, the game is rather close to the PSX version, but missing a few things like full-motion video and songs that aren't 30 second loops. Enjoy as I discover this game all over again, and realize it hasn't aged well at all in the past decade.

The first sequel to the series, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 was a huge leap forward (at the time) from its predecessor. The biggest addition was the Manual trick, which allowed you to link more tricks together for larger combos. Besides that, the level design is greatly improved, and many more tricks have been added.

This was a request by kifisonfire, which I'll be filling by playing the PSX version. He also requested that this be a 100% run showing off all the gaps, so I'll be including those as well. Given that this is a bigger game than the original with more to do, there will be a bit more planning and (hopefully) more skill involved in showing everything off. And if you're lucky, maybe a friendly neighborhood skateboarder will make an appearance.

The series made the jump to the next generation of consoles with the second sequel. Besides the graphical update, the game featured the most inventive levels in the series thus far, some rather peculiar secret characters, and the introduction of the Revert. The Revert allowed you to link vert tricks together and better connect them to combos, much like the manual did for grinds in THPS2.

Unlike THPS2, this game does not have a gap checklist, and therefore you do not unlock anything for finding them all, so I will not be doing that for this game. What I WILL be doing, though, is "Amateur" and "Professional" runs of each level. The Am Runs play out the same way as the previous videos have, but the Pro Runs will contain a more efficient runthrough of the levels (all goals completed and items collected in 2 runs), some exploration in Free Skate, and unlockable videos.
