Part 19: 5/10/09

I’m just glad today was a day off, I’m really tired.

Elizabeth called my phone again, seems that barrier in Tartarus disappeared when we killed that Shadow or something. I’d ask how she knew that but it’s not like I’d get an answer that made sense.

Hello? This is Elizabeth.
I’m calling to inform you of a change in Tartarus…
I believe a path that was blocked is now open…
I thought you would like to know.
…I wish you a safe journey.
> The call ended.

Tanaka was selling some kind of weird cards.

It iiiiis… Garu! A mysterious card with mystical powers!
Oh my goodness! I can’t believe its wonderfulness!
But wait, there’s more!
We’ll throw in 1 Zio for only 2980 yen!

I’m not sure how they even got them, but if they’re what I think they are it’s worth it to pick them up. Anyway, we’re all just relieved to still be alive after last night.

If you weren’t there, we’d all be dead…
Thank you so much. I’m so glad you’re here.

I feel sort of bad for the driver of that monorail, he’s going to take the fall for what that monster did.

Newscaster: The last train, Anehazuru, failed to stop at the red light and went beyond its stopping point.
Police and the monorail management are still trying to determine what caused the incident.
Though the train overshot its mark by over 2,000 feet, no one was injured.
Monorail management are suspecting the train driver, and are holding him for questioning.
In the meantime, they are promising to make every effort to reduce the monorail accident rate.
For now, service on the Anehazuru car will continue as normal.

Akihiko’s even more anxious to rejoin the fight after last night.

When I’m in a battle, it doesn’t last long.
At least, no one gets hurt.

And Mitsuru’s still beating herself up.

I apologize for that.
No need to apologize.
That’s very kind of you.
But, even if you forgive me, I don’t think I can forgive myself.
I promise to be stronger if there is a next time.

Junpei’s a bit freaked out still.

But you saved us by pulling the brake! I’m so glad you were there, dude!
Life is wonderful, isn’t it…?

I headed down to the bookstore to see if there was any news on the persimmon tree.

Oh, Aelita-chan. We were just talking about you.
I’m sorry for troubling you about the persimmon tree…
It’s what you ‘beleave’.
Good one, Aelita-chan!
It’s really nice having you around… I can make stupid puns whenever I feel like it!
> Bunkichi seems happy.
…That persimmon tree is a reminder of our son…
Before his death, he was a teacher at Gekkoukan High School…
He planted that tree on graduation day with the students in his first class.
That tree is about to bear fruit…
Why now…? Why do they want to cut it down now?
Don’t worry.
…Thank you, Aelita-chan.
…That makes me feel a lot better. It’s very comforting talking to you.
> Mitsuko seems very appreciative of your support.
Your kindness encompasses everything, Aelita-chan.
It’s like I’m looking at my wife when she was young!
> It seems Bunkichi and Mitsuko have grown to trust you.
> Your relationship is stronger now!

We’re still not really sure what is going on, so the best thing is for them to just stay calm.

> It’s getting dark out.
Don’t worry too much about the tree. Just stop by when you get the chance.
Oh, and take this. It’s left over, but it’s still good…
> Bunkichi stuffed a Crab Bread into your pocket.
> Obtained Crab Bread.
Take care.
> After saying goodbye to Bunkichi and Mitsuko, you decided to go back to the dorm.

Yukari was thinking about the people on the monorail later.

It was so far off course after the Dark Hour ended.
I bet they had no idea what happened to them.

Akihiko suggested I should get some rest, which was feeling like a great idea.

Well, if you want to go to Tartarus, then I’m not going to stop you.
But if you do go, just treat it as a light warm up.

Ikutsuki’s ‘jokes’ are still not funny.

Luckily, no one was hurt.
Oh, and by the way, I heard there was some trouble on the monorail last night.
But that’s a separate matter now, isn’t it? Ahahaha…

I’m out for the night, we’ll check out what’s past that barricade in Tartarus some other night.
