Part 27: 5/24/09

5/24/09

Rio called me up earlier, we decided to head out somewhere for a bit.

Hello, it’s me, Rio. Are you busy right now?
It’s okay.
Do you want to go somewhere today?
Great! I’ll see you later.
> Rio seems excited…

We went shopping for a while at the strip mall.

We sweat a lot during practice, so I never have enough.
> Rio seems satisfied…
…By the way, are short skirts popular right now?
Everyone’s wearing frilly ones for some reason.
> Rio seems curious…
You look good in skirts, Aelita.
But when you run around in them, don’t you get nervous that someone might see your underwear?

This is also a constant issue when fighting Shadows, I insist that Junpei has to be on the other side of them from me.

Oh, so you worry about that too.
I even get worried with our uniforms. Some people make it really short, too.
> Rio is nodding…
> Today, you learned something new about her.
> It’s starting to get dark out.
> You decide to go back to the dorm.

Akihiko was thinking back on the fight with that weird statue in Tartarus.

Every time you move during battle, your stamina will decrease, and you’ll remain poisoned after the battle ends…
So you should always have Dis-Poison on hand.

Since we’ve got some skills in that area now, Mitsuru was telling me about some extra effects of ice and electrical skills.

…they can also cause ailments such as Freeze and Shock.
If an enemy is weak against either skill, it will have a greater chance of being stricken with an ailment.
Now, I don’t think you’ll ever use Zio to shock an enemy, but I just thought you’d like to know.

If the Lost are returning, they’re not talking about it on the news.

Narrator: Episode 14: Love Bomb! Sometimes the only strategy for victory—is an abject apology!
Newscaster: …And now, the news.

Oh, and I went down to talk to Mutatsu-san for a bit.

Hey, don’t get me wrong, kid. It’s not like I was lookin’ forward to seein’ ya or anything.
…Still, your skin’s shiny. Whaddya puttin’ on it? It’s damn bright.
Well, in terms of brightness, my head won’t lose.
Why don’t ya give it a try? The bald look…
I’ve always wanted to try that.
I like that earnest answer, kid. Looks like you get 20% of what I’m saying.
> Mutatsu seems amused.
I’m not talkin’ about fashion here; I’m sayin’ you’d be better off without your hair.
Oh, sure, you’re young and good-lookin’ now, but just wait…
I mean, look at me. I’m old and ugly… My cheeks sag like a damn bulldog’s.
…That’s life, kid. People get old. Someday you’ll be just as old as me…
You’ll look in the mirror and think…
“Those were the days…”
Here’s a little trick so you don’t lose hope in the future.
…Just don’t expect nothin’. Simple, eh? And that way you won’t ever be disappointed.

That’s a terrible way to look at life.

If ya weren’t so wet behind the ears, we coulda had more of an adult’s conversation.
I wish you coulda been 10 years older when I met ya.
> You felt Mutatsu’s twisted kindness.
> You understand Mutatsu better now.

I’m not surprised his family left him.

> You are getting sleepy…
What, is all my talkin’ puttin’ you to sleep?
Well, ya can’t sleep here, kid. Go home.
> You decided to go back to the dorm.

I don’t plan to be disappointed by how my life has turned out, no matter what happens.
