Budew

_{When it feels the sun's warm touch, it opens its bud to release pollen. This pollen induces harsh sneezing and runny noses. It lives alongside clear pools. Sensitive to changing temperature, the bud is said to bloom when it feels the sun's warm touch. Over the winter, it closes its bud and endures the cold.

Choro Notes: Aside from being cute, Budew's main use is learning Worry Seed; which its evolution, Roselia, doesn't. Aside from that it's a cute lil' bugger and the first special-attacking grass-type you encounter.}

Rock Tomb

Accuracy: 80%

Boulders are hurled at the foe. It also lowers the foe's Speed by preventing its movement.

This was the TM that Brock and Roxanne gave away in Gen3. It's a decent rock-type move early on.}

Wurmple

_{Using the spikes on its rear end, Wurmple peels the bark off trees and feeds on the sap that oozes out. If threatened by a predator such as Swellow, this Pokémon will try to resist by pointing the spikes at the attacking predator. It will weaken the foe by leaking poison from the spikes. This Pokémon's feet are tipped with suction pads that allow it to cling to glass without slipping. It spits a white silk that turns sticky when it contacts air. It is used to immobilize foes.

Choro Notes: Wurmple are basically combination monsters of Weedle and Caterpie. It learns both Tackle and Poison Sting. So how does one evolve into either of its evolutions? It's unique to each wurmple. A wurmple that will evolve into cascoon will ONLY ever evolve into cascoon, for example.}

The user forcefully shoots seeds at the foe. Two to five seeds are shot in rapid succession.

Pretty weak, but early on and on the right Pokémon it can be useful. None of Lady's though. Turtwig's already got Razor Leaf, for instance.}

Nothing interesting happens during this fight except this!

Hmm, I'm sure this will have no relevance to us at all.

_{Choro Notes: Berries! Berries can be planted, exactly like in gen3, to grow more. They're held items that can be given to pokémon that can do various things like restore HP, cure statuses or boost stats. Plus a few other things we'll see later.

Oran Berry

Nature's gifts came together as one in this Berry. It has a wondrous mix of flavors that spread in the mouth.

The Oran Berry restores 10 HP to a monster once it hits critical HP. Several wild Pokémon can be carrying it, like Bidoof.

Cheri Berry

This bright red Berry is very spicy and has a provocative flavor. It blooms with delicate, pretty flowers.

The Cheri Berry automatically heals Paralysis.}

Ok no. I am not using this.

If the leaves grow longer and curlier than average, this Berry will have a somewhat-bitter taste.

The Rawst Berry cures the burn status.}

_{Chesto Berry

This Berry's thick skin and fruit are very tough and dry tasting. However, every bit of it can be eaten.

The Chesto Berry cures sleep.}

_{Pecha Berry

Because of its hollow inside pocket, there isn't a lot to eat. What can be eaten is very sweet and delicious.

The Pecha Berry cures poisoning. All of the status healing berries are useful because starting in Gen4 they can be used in battle like items. They're natural Paralyz heals, etc., basically.}

"It's been three days; I've been eating TinyMushrooms and bugs for food. I ate a wurmple today trainer. The poison burns my tongue!"

Buizel

_{Buizel has a floatation sac around its neck. It inflates the flotation sac around its neck to poke its face out of the water and search for the movement of prey above the surface. It spins its two tails like a propeller to move itself through water. The tails also slice clinging seaweed.

Choro Notes: Quick little physical-attack water-type. Other than that he's kind of boring.}

Shellos

_{Shellos lives along bodies of water. Its body shape has changed to suit its habitat and its color and shapes differ from region to region. In the Sinnoh region, two types are confirmed. Beware of pushing strongly on its squishy body, as it makes a mysterious purple fluid ooze out.

Choro Notes: How strange, its got two versions in its art there. Why is that? Shellos caught on the west side of Mt. Coronet—from the sea between the mainland and Sinnoh—are pink. Shellos from the east side—presumably the open Pacific—are blue. It's a neat little variation on the same species. Aside from that they're just kind of weird little sea slugs that evolve into big, water/ground-type sea slugs. Shellos and it's evolution are also a neat little item as there's rear-view sprites found in the beta-data of Ruby/Sapphire; the two were originally designed for Gen3.}

Pachirisu

_{Pachirisu is one of the kinds of Pokémon with electric cheek pouches. A pair may be seen rubbing their cheek pouches together in an effort to share stored electricity. Living in treetops, it makes fur balls that crackle with static electricity. It stores them with berries in tree holes. It shoots charges from its tail.

Choro Notes: Oh look, the Pikachu variation for Gen4. I actually like Pachirisu, they're fast little buggers with surprisingly high Sp.Defense. The fact they can have Pickup—which lets them possibly find items after battles—is a plus for them, too.}
